OKX Rebind Guide: Three Routes for Existing Users

Three ways to rebind an existing OKX account: the 180-day idle recall, the official request and the KYC-release route, with support as the fallback.

Existing OKX users can rebind, but a referral code can't be added after signup, so there are three routes: reclaim the account after 180 days idle, file OKX's official rebind application, or close the account and register again; if none works, contact support. Once rebound to code FEEOTTER, OKX pays a 20% auto-rebate + exclusive rewards. On 1,000 USDT of monthly fees that is 200 USDT back each month, 2,400 USDT a year (checked October 2026).

Rebind methods in the order we recommend

  1. Option 1: the 180-day idle recall

. Condition: no logins, deposits or trades for over 180 days. No review: signing in through the dedicated link does it. Trade-off: a six-month wait, but the account, VIP tier and sub-accounts stay as they are.
  2. Option 2: OKX's official rebind application

. Condition: decided by OKX, which publishes no threshold. Time: you wait for a review, and OKX gives no number of days. Trade-off: same account, but it can be rejected.
  3. Option 3: close the account and register again

. Users outside mainland China only. Cooling-off after closing a verified account: 7 days (Korea 3, Turkey 30). Trade-off: the old account can't be restored, assets must move first, VIP restarts from regular, and OKX's affiliate rules forbid switching channels by deleting and re-registering, so it may be ruled invalid.
  4. If none works: contact support

. Send us the old account's UID and what you tried, and we will help check.

After the rebind: bind the rebound account's UID on the rebate platform (Fee Otter) so rebates start being recorded.

Register on OKX with our referral code for a 20% auto-rebate + exclusive rewards (OKX charges the fee, then refunds 20% to your account). If you already have an OKX account, you can rebind it to the rebate platform (Fee Otter). This guide covers why a code can't be added after signup, the three ways existing users rebind, how long each takes, common reasons for rejection, what you give up, and how the rebate is paid and calculated.

What do you get by registering on OKX with our code?

  • A 20% auto-rebate, refunded directly to your account by OKX (charge-first, refund-after).
  • One dashboard: once bound, track every rebate and your available balance on the rebate platform (Fee Otter), and request withdrawals.
  • Exclusive rewards and promotions besides the 20%: contact support about our exclusive OKX rewards and promotions.
  • Referral code FEEOTTER: built into the dedicated registration link (mainland China, no VPN: mirror link).

A typical KOL code also gives 20%; the difference is that through Fee Otter you can see every rebate on the data platform and ask support about an exclusive offer beyond the 20%, whereas a KOL keeps the rest. OKX's affiliate FAQ also says an invitee's rebate rate ranges from 0% to 20%, set by the referrer.

OKX Referral code FEEOTTER
This is the actual OKX signup page opened through our link, with the code already filled in. Plenty of codes that advertise high rebates come without a single screenshot, and people only find out after signing up that no rebate arrives. We put up each exchange's signup page or dashboard so you can check before you register.

How is the OKX rebate paid and calculated? (charge-first, refund-after)

OKX charges the trading fee as usual, then refunds 20% of it to your account afterwards.

Example: using OKX's 0.05% perp taker rate with 2,500 USDT margin at 20x leverage, the notional is 50,000 USDT and the one-side fee is 50,000 × 0.05% = 25 USDT. The 20% auto-rebate = 25 × 20% = 5 USDT refunded to your account (see the complete fee-rebate guide).

If you are already a VIP on an exchange and want to rebind or sign up on another one, contact support and we can help you apply for special trading perks and exclusive rewards.

Why can't an OKX referral code be added later?

OKX only lets you enter a referral code when you create the account; it cannot be added afterwards. If your OKX account wasn't registered under our code, the system can't credit rebates to you. Rebinding moves your existing account to our code, and the fees you generate from then on start accruing rebates.

OKX says so in three places (all checked 2026-10-19):

  • The OKX referral program page (updated 2026-10-05): referral codes must be added before the account is created and can't be added or changed afterwards.
  • The OKX affiliate FAQ (updated 2026-09-15): once an affiliate channel is assigned it can't be changed, and a prefilled code on the signup page can't be edited, "to ensure fair competition among all channels". The only exception it names is the recall after more than 180 days idle.
  • The same FAQ says you can't change your channel by deleting the account and signing up again. That is why Option 3 comes last.

Typical situations that call for a rebind:

  • You signed up without a code, or with one that does not pass the 20% on to you.
  • You want to join Fee Otter's exclusive OKX rewards and promotions (via support).
  • Your original referrer can no longer be reached and rebates have stopped arriving.

Before you rebind: what to prepare

  • Check how long the account has been idle: method one needs 180 days idle, with no logins, deposits or trades in that time; for method two, applying after 1 to 2 months idle raises the approval rate.
  • Have the application details ready: the official rebind form asks for the code (FEEOTTER), and the reason to enter is "加入 Fee Otter" (joining Fee Otter).
  • Write down both UIDs: note the UID of the old and the new account, since binding and support checks both rely on it. If you are not sure where to find it, see what an exchange UID is and where to find it.
  • Check whether you have a referrer: in the OKX app go to Menu, Account settings, Profile. If a Referral rewards entry shows, the account has a referral relationship; if not, it has none, or the referrer isn't an affiliate.
  • Have your Fee Otter account ready: after the rebind, bind the new UID on the rebate platform so your OKX rebates start being recorded.

Three ways for existing OKX users to rebind

Option 1: the 180-day idle recall

Leave the account idle for 180 days, then sign in through the dedicated link (code FEEOTTER) to complete the recall-and-rebind. This works whether or not the account was ever bound to someone else's code.

Note: during those 180 days you must not log in, deposit or trade; any one of them restarts the count. OKX's official recall condition is no deposits, trades or logins for over 180 days (see the OKX affiliate FAQ). The FAQ adds two things: users can't check in advance whether they meet the recall criteria, and if a recall fails the account can't be re-bound to an affiliate. Wait a few extra days rather than trying on day 180.

Option 2: OKX official rebind application

OKX offers an official rebind request, which typically requires the account to be a certain age with recent trading volume below a threshold. The form sits behind a login, and when we checked (2026-10-19) we found no published threshold or review time; OKX's decision is final. Try Option 1 first; if it fails, try this one. Steps:

  1. Open the rebind URL https://www.okx.com/join/FEEOTTER (mainland China, no VPN: https://www.okx.com/join/FEEOTTER).
  2. Enter our referral code, FEEOTTER, and set the binding reason to "Joining Fee Otter".
  3. Submit, then wait for OKX to review it.

To improve approval odds, leave the account idle for 1 to 2 months before applying.

Option 3: close the account and register again

Users outside mainland China can close the account (which frees the phone number, email and identity details), wait out the cooling-off period, register again through the dedicated link and verify KYC on the new account. Per OKX's account closure guide (updated 2026-09-29, checked 2026-10-19), if you ever attempted or submitted identity verification, the cooling-off period is 3 days in Korea, 30 days in Turkey and 7 days everywhere else, counted from the moment the closure succeeds. If you never submitted verification, you usually don't have to wait.

Before closing, OKX requires that all assets are moved or handled, open orders and pending items are completed or cancelled, and an authenticator app is linked. A closed account can't be recovered. And because the affiliate FAQ forbids switching channels by deleting and re-registering, this route carries a risk that the referral relationship is ruled invalid; ask support before you start.

If none of these work: contact support

If none of the three methods above let you rebind, contact our support team and we will help you sort it out. Include the old account's UID, what you tried and screenshots.

Common reasons a rebind is rejected or fails

OKX's affiliate FAQ lists the usual reasons a referral relationship isn't established; we add the cases our support sees most:

  • Wrong code entered: check the field reads FEEOTTER before you submit.
  • Signed up through a paid ad: OKX says registrations from paid advertising channels can't be bound to a referrer.
  • Opened the link, then downloaded the app first: OKX says to finish registering on the web before downloading the app, or the binding may not stick.
  • Someone else's code is prefilled: if you clicked another referral link in the past 30 days, that code may follow your device. Open the dedicated link in a private/incognito window and confirm the field shows FEEOTTER.
  • Recall criteria not met: using Option 1 before 180 idle days, and a failed recall can't be retried.
  • Incomplete Option 2 application: the code or reason is missing, or recent volume is too high.

What do you give up by rebinding?

Options 1 and 2 change the referrer on the same account, so assets, VIP tier, sub-accounts and API keys all stay. Option 3 is the one with costs:

  • VIP restarts from regular: OKX sets VIP by total assets or 30-day volume, whichever qualifies (VIP 1 is USD 100,000 in assets, USD 1 million in 30-day spot or USD 5 million in futures). It snapshots daily at 16:00 UTC (00:00 UTC+8) and updates between 04:00 and 06:00 UTC+8; deposits of USD 1,000 or more trigger an immediate review (OKX VIP page, updated 2026-10-15, checked 2026-10-19). If your tier came from assets, it returns soon after you move them; a volume-based tier needs another 30 days.
  • Assets must move first: trading, Grow and funding balances must be withdrawn or handled, orders cancelled and positions closed.
  • Sub-accounts and API keys must be rebuilt: the closure guide doesn't say how sub-accounts are handled. In practice, move sub-account assets back to the main account first, then create new sub-accounts and API keys on the new account.
  • Don't activate a random VIP trial card: an OKX VIP trial card is activated by entering a friend's invitation code. If you want a VIP trial, ask our support first so you don't pick up another referral binding.

Thresholds and rates are in OKX VIP tiers and fees.

Example: is Option 3 worth it for a VIP 1 user?

Say you trade 5 million USDT of USDT-M futures a month, all taker. The old account is VIP 1 (futures taker 0.045%) with no rebate; the new account is a regular user for the first month (taker 0.050%). Rates are from the OKX fee page; the platform display prevails.

CaseMonthly fees20% rebateNet paid
Old account, VIP 1, no rebate2,250 USDT02,250 USDT
New account, first month (regular)2,500 USDT500 USDT2,000 USDT
New account back at VIP 12,250 USDT450 USDT1,800 USDT

Even in the first month at regular rates you pay 250 USDT less; back at VIP 1 you pay 450 USDT less each month. The real cost of Option 3 is the cooling-off period and the risk that the binding is ruled invalid. On fees alone it pays.

OKX exclusive rewards and promotions

Beyond the 20% auto-rebate, we run exclusive OKX rewards and promotions; for details, contact support via the rebate platform (Fee Otter).

How much more do you get after rebinding?

At a USDT-M futures taker fee of 0.05% (OKX official fee page), here is the 20% rebate you get back after rebinding at different monthly volumes:

Monthly volumeMonthly fees20% rebate per monthPer year
500,000 USDT250 USDT50 USDT600 USDT
2,000,000 USDT1,000 USDT200 USDT2,400 USDT
5,000,000 USDT2,500 USDT500 USDT6,000 USDT

Rebate rates verified on 2026-10-07 (combined rates when bound through Fee Otter; the live platform display prevails) · Methodology

On 1,000 USDT of monthly fees, a rebind brings back 2,400 USDT a year; for our exclusive OKX rewards and promotions, ask support.

Without a code none of this comes back; after the rebind, every 1,000 USDT in fees returns 200 USDT. To plug in your own volume, see how much fee rebate you can earn, with worked examples.

How to confirm the rebind worked

  1. Wait at least 3 hours after signing up or being recalled so OKX's data can update.
  2. In the OKX app, open Menu, Account settings, Profile and check that a Referral rewards entry appears; User Center, My Rewards shows the rebate rate your referrer assigned you.
  3. Log in to the OKX account bound to our code, copy its UID from your profile page, then on the rebate platform (Fee Otter) choose OKX, paste the UID and submit.
  4. Once your next trade generates a fee, the rebate record appears on the rebate platform, usually after the exchange's daily report is imported (T+1).
  5. If nothing shows up after two days, send the UID to support and we will help confirm whether the rebind worked.

Common mistakes

  • Using method one before 180 idle days: reclaiming will not work if the account has not been idle long enough, so check the count first.
  • Looking for an add-later option: OKX states that the code must be added before the account is created (see the OKX referral program help page), so existing users should go straight to the rebind methods.
  • Filling in the application incorrectly: enter FEEOTTER as the code and "加入 Fee Otter" as the reason.
  • Registering before the cooling-off ends: the period starts when the closure succeeds, not when you submit the request.
  • Forgetting to bind the UID: finishing the rebind but never binding the UID on the rebate platform, so no rebates are recorded.

Add-later windows and official rebind channels differ a lot between exchanges; compare them side by side in the referral-code and rebind rules by exchange.

OKX compared with other exchanges

FAQ

Can I add an OKX referral code after signing up?

No. OKX only lets you enter a referral code when you create the account; it can't be added or changed afterwards. If you already have an account, use the rebind methods above.

Can I change my referrer on OKX?

Normally no. OKX's affiliate FAQ says a channel can't be changed once assigned. The exception is the recall after more than 180 days idle (Option 1), and you can also try the official rebind application (Option 2).

How long does an OKX rebind take?

Option 1 needs over 180 idle days, and the system updates about 3 hours after you sign in through the link. Option 2 waits on OKX's review, with no published timeframe. Option 3 has a cooling-off period of 7 days in most regions.

What if my OKX rebind fails?

Check the rejection reasons above first. OKX says a failed recall can't be re-bound, so if Option 1 fails, try Option 2; if that fails too, contact support with the old UID and screenshots.

Does rebinding affect my OKX VIP tier?

Options 1 and 2 keep the same account, so VIP doesn't change. Option 3 is a new account that starts as a regular user; an asset-based tier is reviewed again once the assets arrive, while a volume-based one needs another 30 days.

What rebate do I get by registering on OKX with our code?

A 20% auto-rebate + exclusive rewards: the 20% is refunded by OKX (charge-first, refund-after); for the exclusive rewards, contact support.

When is the OKX rebate paid?

OKX uses charge-first, refund-after: it charges the fee at the time of the trade, then refunds 20% to your account. Once bound through Fee Otter, these rebates are recorded on the rebate platform (Fee Otter), where you can track them and request withdrawals.

How is OKX's 20% different from a KOL code?

OKX's auto-rebate is a flat 20%; the difference is transparency and our exclusive promotions. On Fee Otter's data platform you can see every rebate and ask support about our exclusive OKX rewards and promotions, whereas a KOL code may not pass the full 20% on to you.

Do I still get OKX new-user rewards when registering with the code?

Yes. Registering with our code still qualifies you for OKX's official new-user rewards (such as mystery boxes; the exact contents and amounts follow OKX's own campaign).

After rebinding, when do rebates start?

Once the rebind is done, the fees you generate afterwards start accruing rebates, which you can track on the rebate platform (Fee Otter).

OKX rebate and rebind rules may change; OKX official and platform announcements are authoritative.
