OKX has nine VIP tiers, VIP1 to VIP9 (ten fee tiers counting regular users), and you move up by meeting either an asset or a 30-day volume threshold: 100,000 USD in assets, 1 million USD in 30-day spot volume or 5 million USD in futures volume gets you VIP1. For VIP2, 200,000 USD in assets is enough, and it cuts the futures taker fee from 0.050% to 0.036% without a single trade; VIP3 takes 2 million USD in assets or 50 million USD in 30-day futures volume. The system assigns the best tier you qualify for every day, with no platform token to hold and nothing to apply for. If you drop below a threshold, the tier changes the next day: OKX lists no grace period (checked 2026-10-19).
This guide covers OKX's official VIP1 to VIP9 thresholds and spot and futures fees, when snapshots and updates happen, downgrade rules, how to reach VIP without trading volume, how VIP trial cards work, OKB's role in fees, and what you actually pay with VIP and a rebate combined, ending with a table on whether VIP is worth chasing. The fastest way to VIP1, VIP2 and VIP3
Any one of OKX's three thresholds (assets, 30-day spot volume, 30-day futures volume) is enough, so start with the one you are closest to:
| Target | Assets only | Spot volume only | Futures volume only | Futures taker once there |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VIP1 | 100K USD | 1M USD in 30 days | 5M USD in 30 days | 0.045% |
| VIP2 | 200K USD | 5M USD in 30 days | 10M USD in 30 days | 0.036% |
| VIP3 | 2M USD | 10M USD in 30 days | 50M USD in 30 days | 0.028% |
For most individual traders, assets are the easiest route: VIP1 and VIP2 are only 100,000 USD apart, while VIP3 needs another 1.8 million USD. The futures-volume route jumps even more, from 10 million to 50 million USD between VIP2 and VIP3.
OKX VIP thresholds and fees at a glance
The table comes from the OKX fee page (spot from the Standard tab, futures from the Futures tab) and the official guide What's OKX VIP and how do I qualify for it? (marked as updated on 2026-10-15), checked on 2026-10-19; the figures match what we found on 2026-09-28. Assets and volume are in USD; meeting any one threshold is enough.
| Tier | Assets | 30-day spot volume | 30-day futures volume | Spot maker / taker | Futures maker / taker |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Regular | < 100K | < 1M | < 5M | 0.080% / 0.100% | 0.020% / 0.050% |
| VIP1 | ≥ 100K | ≥ 1M | ≥ 5M | 0.0675% / 0.080% | 0.016% / 0.045% |
| VIP2 | ≥ 200K | ≥ 5M | ≥ 10M | 0.060% / 0.070% | 0.015% / 0.036% |
| VIP3 | ≥ 2M | ≥ 10M | ≥ 50M | 0.055% / 0.065% | 0.010% / 0.028% |
| VIP4 | ≥ 5M | ≥ 20M | ≥ 200M | 0.030% / 0.045% | 0.008% / 0.027% |
| VIP5 | ≥ 20M | ≥ 100M | ≥ 600M | 0.025% / 0.035% | 0.005% / 0.026% |
| VIP6 | ≥ 50M | ≥ 200M | ≥ 1B | 0.000% / 0.030% | 0.000% / 0.025% |
| VIP7 | ≥ 100M | ≥ 500M | ≥ 1.5B | −0.001% / 0.023% | −0.001% / 0.023% |
| VIP8 | ≥ 250M | ≥ 1B | ≥ 2B | −0.0025% / 0.020% | −0.0025% / 0.020% |
| VIP9 | ≥ 500M | ≥ 5B | ≥ 20B | −0.005% / 0.015% | −0.005% / 0.015% |
A negative rate means the exchange pays you when your maker order fills. OKX's live pages prevail, and OKX notes that actual fees and benefits may vary by region.
A few things that are easy to miss:
- Options are a route too: the official guide also lists 30-day options volume: 3M USD for VIP1, 5M USD for VIP2 and 10M USD for VIP3.
- The asset threshold covers spot and futures: one asset threshold maps to your account-wide VIP tier, so VIP2 reached through assets gives VIP2 rates on both spot and futures. OKX's FAQ says the tier "applies across all trading products, including spot, futures, and options".
- Spot has several tabs: the fee page splits spot into Standard, Stablecoins, TRY pairs and Special fee pairs. This table uses Standard, the one for most coins; see the matching tab for stablecoin and special-fee pairs.
- VIP1 saves little; VIP2 is where it shows: the futures taker fee drops from 0.045% at VIP1 to 0.036% at VIP2, a much bigger step than from regular to VIP1.
For the difference between maker and taker, see Maker vs taker fees explained.
How your tier is set: the better of two, snapshotted daily
- Assets or volume, whichever is better: OKX assigns your tier from total account assets or 30-day trading volume, "whichever puts you at a higher tier". If your 30-day spot volume meets VIP3 but your assets only meet VIP1, you are VIP3.
- Snapshot and update times: the system takes a snapshot daily at 16:00 UTC and updates tiers between 20:00 and 22:00 UTC.
- Large deposits trigger an immediate review: OKX says "Deposits of USD 1,000 or more trigger an immediate review", so an asset-based upgrade can take effect the same day.
- Sub-accounts are combined: the master account's tier is based on the combined assets and volume of the master and all sub-accounts; sub-accounts inherit it, and a new sub-account picks it up at 00:00 UTC+8 the next day.
- API users included: the official FAQ confirms VIP fees apply to API users too.

The asset threshold looks at total account assets, with no lock-up and no specific coin required. If you don't trade much but hold 100,000 to 200,000 USD, assets alone get you VIP1 or VIP2 without any trading volume.
Can you be downgraded? OKX has no grace period
Yes, and quickly. Under "Why has my VIP status expired?", OKX's VIP guide says it recalculates 30-day volume and assets daily at 16:00 UTC and, if you fall below your tier's minimum, adjusts the tier between 20:00 and 22:00 UTC the same day. Its answer to "is there a grace period before a downgrade?" says tiers update daily on a T+1 basis and mentions no grace period. The only grace period in the guide is for the VIP group chat, which you can stay in for a while after VIP lapses; trading fees get none.
- Upgraded through assets: if a withdrawal or a price drop takes your assets below the threshold, you are back on the old rates the next day.
- Upgraded through volume: the window is a rolling 30 days, so the tier slips as soon as your trading slows.
- Tier from a trial card: it ends automatically when the card expires.
- Meet the threshold again and it comes back: OKX says lapsed or downgraded VIP status is restored once you meet the asset or volume requirement again.
How to reach VIP without 30-day volume
Meet the asset threshold
VIP1 needs 100,000 USD, VIP2 200,000 USD and VIP3 2 million USD. The asset bar jumps tenfold from VIP2 to VIP3, so for most individual traders the asset route realistically means VIP1 or VIP2. Holding assets on an exchange carries risk; for OKX's reserves, see OKX proof of reserves.
VIP trial cards: 14 days of VIP1
According to the official guide, each VIP gets 3 VIP1 trial cards a month to give to friends; they are valid for that month only and don't carry over. Once activated, a card gives most VIP1 benefits for 14 days (VIP merchandise and the C2C VIP zone excepted), and if the friend qualifies for real VIP during the trial, the upgrade happens automatically. To claim one you must meet all three conditions: not a VIP in the past 180 days, identity verification done, and no trial card claimed in the past 90 days. You activate it through the friend's invitation link or by entering the friend's invitation code on the trial page.
If you already signed up on OKX with our invite code and want a VIP trial, contact our support directly rather than activating someone else's trial card, so you don't end up with an extra referral link that can't be changed.
Already a VIP elsewhere: let us talk to OKX
OKX's FAQ says users who are VIP on another exchange, or whose volume or assets qualify, can apply for the same VIP status. If you are already a VIP elsewhere or trade large volume, contact Fee Otter support and we will go straight to OKX's official team to seek a VIP tier trial or other perks for you; the tier and duration you get are decided by OKX. OKX also says it doesn't gift or manually assign permanent VIP status; trials always expire.
