Your rebate is fees × rebate rate, and fees are volume × fee rate. At a 0.05% perp taker rate, 1,000,000 USDT of monthly volume costs about 500 USDT in fees, and through Fee Otter you get back 350 USDT on Gate (70% = 20% automatic + 50% Fee Otter extra), 3.5× the 100 USDT a common 20% code returns. The same volume returns 300 on MEXC, 250 on Bitget, 200 on Binance and 100 USDT on OKX (OKX 20% auto-rebate + exclusive rewards); rates checked October 2026.
How is rebate calculated?
Two steps:
- Fees = volume × fee rate. Perp taker is ~0.05%, so every 1,000,000 USDT traded costs about 500 USDT in fees.
- Rebate = fees × rebate rate. The rate depends on the exchange: Gate 70%, WEEX 70%, XT.COM 70%, MEXC 60%, Bitget 50%, HTX 50%, Pionex 50% (15% exchange auto-rebate + 35% Fee Otter extra rebate), Binance 40%, Bybit 40%, and OKX 20% auto-rebate + exclusive rewards.

Recalculated with each exchange's real taker fee
The figures above use a flat 0.05% so the rebate rates can be compared cleanly. In practice each exchange's VIP0 perpetual taker fee differs; recalculated at real fees on 1M USDT of monthly volume, the monthly amounts are (USDT):
| Exchange | Perp taker | Monthly fees | Typical 20% code returns | Fee Otter returns |
| Gate | 0.05% | 500 | 100 | 350 |
| MEXC | 0.04% | 400 | 80 | 240 |
| Bitget | 0.06% | 600 | 120 | 300 |
| Binance | 0.05% | 500 | 100 | 200 |
| Bybit | 0.055% | 550 | 110 | 220 |
| OKX | 0.05% | 500 | 100 | 100 (20% auto-rebate + exclusive rewards) |
Fees verified on 2026-10-18 (each exchange's official fee schedule: Gate, MEXC, Bitget, Binance, Bybit); MEXC shows its standard perpetual rate, with BTC and ETH perps currently at 0 / 0.02%. · Methodology
An exchange with higher fees returns more at the same rebate rate, but you also pay more. Compare exchanges by net cost after rebate, not just by the amount returned: net cost = fees × (1 − rebate rate), e.g. Gate 500 × 30% = 150 USDT, Bitget 600 × 50% = 300 USDT. See effective perpetual fees after rebate for every exchange, and the fees and rebates across exchanges for the full comparison.
How do spot and limit orders work out?
Same formula, with the spot or maker fee plugged in:
- Spot: 100,000 USDT of monthly spot volume at a 0.10% spot fee is 100 USDT of monthly fees. Through Fee Otter, Gate's 65% spot rate returns 65 USDT and Bitget's 45% spot rate returns 45 USDT, versus 20 USDT with a typical 20% code.
- Perpetual limit orders: at maker 0.02%, 1M USDT of monthly volume is 200 USDT of fees, and Gate's 70% returns 140 USDT. Maker fees are lower, so the rebate amount is smaller, but the rate is the same.
For spot investors see the fee rebate guide for spot investors, for the order-type difference see maker vs taker fees explained, and for algorithmic trading see fee rebate for high-volume traders.
How is each exchange's rate made up?
Fee Otter has one rate per exchange: the exchange's automatic rebate plus Fee Otter's extra rebate.
| Exchange | Exchange auto-rebate | Fee Otter extra rebate | Total |
| Gate | 20% | 50% | 70% |
| MEXC | 20% | 40% | 60% |
| Bitget | 20% | 30% | 50% |
| Binance | 20% | 20% | 40% |
| Bybit | None | 40% | 40% |
| OKX | 20% | None | 20% + exclusive rewards |
Gate's 70% is 3.5 times a typical 20% code. If you are already a VIP on an exchange and want to rebind or sign up on another exchange, contact support; we can help you apply for special trading perks or a higher rebate rate. For how rebates settle and when they arrive, see how fee rebates are settled.
A quick rule of thumb: on 1,000 USDT of monthly fees, a typical 20% code returns 200 USDT; bound through Fee Otter, Bitget returns 500 and Gate 700 USDT, or 3,600 to 6,000 USDT more per year.
How big is the gap between bound and unbound?
Same 500 USDT monthly fees (1M monthly volume):
- No referral code: 0 rebate.
- Exchange default 20% only: 100/month.
- Bound via Fee Otter (e.g. Gate 70%): 350/month, 250 more than the 20%-only case, about 3,000 USDT more per year.
How to start earning
Register with a referral code, bind your UID on the rebate platform (Fee Otter), and once your trading generates fees it's auto-approved; after that you can check it and request withdrawals daily. For a cross-exchange comparison, see the 2026 rebate comparison by exchange; for why it can exceed 20%, see this article.
The simplest way to start: if you have no account yet, register with the Gate referral code (FEEOTTER) or the Binance referral code and bind your UID on Fee Otter; if you already have one, check the late-entry and rebind rules by exchange to see whether you can add a code late or rebind, and see the Gate rebind guide for Gate.
The sooner you bind, the sooner every fee you pay starts coming back; rebates settle daily, so from the day you bind, the rebates on the fees you generate can be checked in the dashboard every day, with withdrawals on request.
When will you actually receive less than the estimate?
The estimate above is the ideal value of "fees × rate". When the rebate is actually credited, the following situations can make the number smaller. None of them are miscalculations; this is how the rules work:
- Zero-fee trades have no rebate: MEXC has more than 100 zero-fee futures contracts. With no fee, there is nothing to return.
- Platform-token discounts shrink the base: when you pay fees with BNB, BGB or GT, you pay less in fees. The rebate is calculated on the amount actually paid, so it gets smaller too, but your total cost is lower.
- The automatic rebate isn't on the rebate site: the automatic rebate from the referral code (20% at Binance, OKX, Gate, Bitget and MEXC; 15% at Pionex; 60% at WEEX and XT.COM; 30% at HTX; 50% at Ourbit; Bybit has no automatic layer) is paid by the exchange directly to your exchange account. The rebate dashboard shows the extra portion settled by Fee Otter.
- Trades the exchange deems in breach of its terms: for example, wash trading. The exchange does not share those fees, so they don't count toward your rebate.
- OKX is a 20% auto-rebate + exclusive rewards (contact support). The calculator uses 20%.
What happens to your rebate when volume drops? An example
Your rebate follows the fees you actually pay. Say you paid 600 USDT in fees on Gate last month, which returns 420 USDT at 70%; then you took two weeks off this month and paid only 200 USDT, so you get back 140 USDT. Rebates already credited are not taken back.
FAQ
How is rebate calculated?
Rebate = fees × rebate rate, and fees = volume × fee rate (perp taker ~0.05%). E.g. 1M USDT monthly volume ≈ 500 USDT fees, and Gate 70% returns 350 USDT.
Is rebate settled monthly?
Fee Otter settles daily, and you can check your accruing available balance and request a USDT withdrawal anytime. The "per month" figures above are the daily accruals summed.
What is the 0.05% used here?
It's a reference perp taker rate (VIP0). Actual fees vary by exchange, VIP level and token discounts; spot and maker rates are usually lower.
Can high-volume traders get a higher rate?
Yes. Fee Otter has one rate per exchange, and the estimates above all use it; high-volume VIP traders can contact support to apply for a higher rebate rate. For how rebates settle, see how fee rebates are settled.
How is OKX counted?
OKX is calculated at its 20% auto-rebate; contact support about our exclusive OKX rewards and promotions.
How much rebate can I get back in a year on 1M USDT of monthly volume?
At perp taker 0.05%, monthly fees are about 500 USDT, or about 6,000 USDT a year; through Fee Otter that returns about 4,200 USDT on Gate, 3,000 on Bitget and 2,400 on Binance a year, versus 1,200 USDT with a typical 20% code.
Do spot trades earn rebates too?
Yes, though the rate can differ from futures: bound through Fee Otter, Gate spot pays 65%, Bitget spot 45% and Pionex spot 50% (15% exchange auto-rebate + 35% Fee Otter extra rebate). Under the Pionex affiliate program rules, stock-token spot and MEME trades generate no commission, so they earn no rebate.
