Binance vs Gate 2026: Fee Rebate 40% vs 70% Compared

Binance and Gate both charge 0.02%/0.05% on futures. Via Fee Otter the fee rebate is 40% vs 70%, so net taker is 0.03% vs 0.015%; Gate pays 3.5x a typical 20% code.

Gate costs half as much as Binance after rebates: both list the same futures fees (0.02% maker, 0.05% taker), but bound through Fee Otter, Gate rebates 70% on futures and Binance 40%, so the net taker fee is 0.015% on Gate against 0.03% on Binance. On 1,000 USDT of monthly fees you get 700 USDT back on Gate and 400 USDT on Binance; whether the extra cost is worth it depends on how much you need Binance's liquidity (Gate referral code FEEOTTER; checked October 2026).

Quick verdict

  • More than double what common KOL codes pay: Gate's 70% is 3.5 times a typical 20% code and 2.8 times a 25% code; Binance's 40% is 2 times a 20% code.
  • Listed fees are a tie: futures are 0.02% / 0.05% on both, spot 0.10% / 0.10%. Binance's token discount is bigger (BNB takes 25% off spot); Gate's GT rate is 0.09%, about 10% off.
  • Gate's rebate is far higher: Gate pays 70% and Binance 40%, so Gate pays 30 points more (65% on Gate spot).
  • Net taker differs by 0.015 points: 0.05% × 30% = 0.015%. At 500,000 USDT of monthly taker volume, that is 900 USDT a year.
  • Binance is much deeper: in stock perps, CL trades 319.8M a day against 34.6M, and SPY 23.2M against 0.2M. For large orders and thin tickers, slippage can exceed the rebate gap.
  • Adding a code and rebinding: Binance allows a code within 30 days of signup if you have not deposited or traded; Gate does not, and rebinding means signing up again with a new email.

Fees verified on 2026-09-24 (each exchange's official fee schedule). · Methodology

From this table alone you would think either one is fine. On futures the listed fees are identical, so "which is cheaper" depends entirely on the rebate. The only listed difference is the platform token: BNB takes more off than GT, but as the next section shows, the rebate gap wipes that out completely.

Gate has more than one way to cut fees. Referral discounts, GT deductions and VIP tiers can stack, so the rate you are actually charged is often below the list price; the rebate is based on the fee you actually pay, not the list price. For current rates, see the official pages: Binance fee schedule · Gate fee schedule.

Rebate structure: why Gate pays 30 points more

On both exchanges the first layer is the 20% the exchange returns automatically. The difference is the second layer: Gate's affiliate share is higher than other exchanges', and Fee Otter passes the extra on to you, so the same fees earn back more on Gate than on most exchanges.

Item (bound through Fee Otter)BinanceGate
Layer 1 (exchange, automatic)20%20%
Layer 2 (Fee Otter extra)20%50% futures, 45% spot
Total40%70% futures, 65% spot

The Gate referral code is FEEOTTER. Accounts bound through Fee Otter are on Binance's affiliate programme, so the 12-month futures commission limit of Referral Pro Tier 0 does not apply. For where each layer comes from, see automatic vs extra rebate.

When you bind through Fee Otter, Gate pays 70% and Binance 40%. On 1,000 USDT of monthly fees, a typical 20% code returns 200 USDT; Fee Otter returns 700 USDT on Gate and 400 USDT on Binance.

Typical 20% code0.016%0.04%0.016%0.04%
Through Fee Otter0.012%0.03%0.006%0.015%

Formula: net fee = listed fee × (1 − rebate rate). For example, Gate taker: 0.05% × (1 − 70%) = 0.015%; Binance taker: 0.05% × (1 − 40%) = 0.03%; Gate maker: 0.02% × (1 − 70%) = 0.006%. With identical listed fees, Gate's net rate after the rebate is half of Binance's.

One trade: 2,500 USDT margin at 20x leverage

Notional position = 2,500 × 20 = 50,000 USDT. Opening with a market order costs 50,000 × 0.05% = 25 USDT on both. Through Fee Otter, Binance rebates 25 × 40% = 10 USDT, so you pay 15 USDT net; Gate rebates 25 × 70% = 17.5 USDT, so you pay 7.5 USDT net. Same order, same listed fee, and Gate charges you 7.5 USDT less every time you open. Count both opening and closing, and a round trip saves 15 USDT.

In money: net cost at three monthly volumes

Assume all market orders (0.05% taker). Monthly fees = monthly notional × 0.05%, and net monthly cost = monthly fees × (1 − rebate rate):

Monthly notionalMonthly fees (same on both)Typical 20% codeBinance (40%)Gate (70%)
100,000 USDT50 USDT40 USDT30 USDT15 USDT
500,000 USDT250 USDT200 USDT150 USDT75 USDT
2,000,000 USDT1,000 USDT800 USDT600 USDT300 USDT

At 500,000 USDT a month, Gate saves 150 − 75 = 75 USDT, or 75 × 12 = 900 USDT a year. For the same fees, Gate returns 1.75 times as much as Binance (70% vs 40%). Against a typical 20% code the gap is wider still: 250 USDT of monthly fees returns only 50, so you pay 200 net; through Fee Otter on Gate you pay 75 net, 125 USDT less a month, or 1,500 USDT a year.

Tokenized US stocks: Gate lists more, Binance trades more

Both exchanges offer tokenized US stock perpetuals, and both put them on a separate fee schedule: Binance has a TradFi fee page with a current time-limited 0% maker promotion, and since 2026-09-01 Gate has used a dedicated TradFi fee table with VIP 0 at 0.02% maker and 0.05% taker.

MSTR 24h volume124.0M11.4M
NVDA 24h volume18.0M2.6M
SPY 24h volume23.2M0.2M

Among the six exchanges measured, Gate has the lowest net cost on stock perps (75 USDT) and Binance is at 150 USDT. The volume gap is large, though: about 9.2x on CL (319.8M ÷ 34.6M), about 10.9x on MSTR, about 6.9x on NVDA, and 116x on SPY (23.2M ÷ 0.2M). The listing gap is mostly in less-traded names; both list the major US stocks. Listings and volumes come from each exchange's public API on 2026-09-20 and change daily; the full data is in the tokenized stock perpetual fee comparison.

The slippage break-even is 0.015%. Gate's net taker is 0.015 points lower than Binance's, which is 1.5 USDT per 10,000 USDT of notional. If Binance's deeper order book saves you more than 1.5 USDT of slippage per 10,000 USDT, Binance comes out ahead; on small orders, major tickers, or limit orders, slippage is close to zero and Gate keeps its full rebate advantage.

The one case where Binance wins on fees is its TradFi 0% maker promotion: if all your stock perp orders fill as limit orders while the promotion runs, that part costs nothing on Binance, while Gate's net maker is 0.02% × (1 − 70%) = 0.006%, about 0.6 USDT per 10,000 USDT. A 0% maker fee leaves nothing to rebate, and taker fills are still charged and rebated as usual, so for most people the blended cost is still lower on Gate.

Spot: platform-token discount first, then the rebate

Spot is the one place where Binance has the lower listed rate: 0.075% with BNB against 0.09% with GT on Gate. After the rebate, the order flips again:

How you bindBinance (from BNB rate 0.075%)Gate (from GT rate 0.09%)
Typical 20% code0.06%0.072%
Through Fee Otter0.045% (40% rebate)0.0315% (65% spot rebate)

Formula: Binance = 0.075% × (1 − 40%) = 0.045%; Gate = 0.09% × (1 − 65%) = 0.0315%. Without the platform token the gap is even wider: Binance is 0.10% × (1 − 40%) = 0.06%, Gate is 0.10% × (1 − 65%) = 0.035%.

Products and ecosystem: the biggest exchange vs one of the oldest

  • Binance (founded 2017): the world's largest exchange by trading volume for years, with the deepest liquidity and the broadest range of coins and products; spot, futures and earn all sit in one account. Beyond US stock perps it also lists Hong Kong stocks (Tencent, Xiaomi, Lenovo and others) and some pre-IPO names.
  • Gate (founded 2013): one of the earliest exchanges among those we support, with many coins, broad altcoin coverage and fast listings. If you want early access to new tokens, Gate is usually one of the first to list them.
  • Where rebates land: on both, the layer-1 20% goes to your exchange account (since 2025-02-13 Binance settles it in USDC to your spot account by default; Gate pays it under its own rules), and layer 2 goes to your Fee Otter available balance, roughly T+1.

Waiting time30-day evaluation for the official request; 35 days for deletion and KYC transferNo wait; the new account is bound the moment you sign up

In practice Gate is the simplest to rebind: one KYC document can register up to 5 accounts, so you only need a new email to sign up again through the referral link, which fills in the code FEEOTTER. A phone number is not required; you can use a passkey or Google Authenticator instead. On either exchange, once you have rebound, bind the new account's UID on Fee Otter; binding only needs the UID, not an API key, password or withdrawal permission. Full steps are in the Gate rebind guide and the Binance rebind guide.

The referral code is FEEOTTER on both Gate and Binance, built into the dedicated link; a wrong code counts as no code, and Gate cannot change it after signup. Details are on the Gate referral code and Binance referral code pages.

Safety and track record: what the rebate cannot fix

A higher rebate saves you money on every trade, but it cannot protect assets held on an exchange that runs into trouble. Before you move a large balance for the sake of 0.015 points, weigh each exchange's history and reserves as well.

A proof of reserves shows that customer balances were covered at a point in time; it is not a guarantee, and it does not cover every liability. Two habits matter more than which exchange you choose: do not keep all your assets on one exchange, and withdraw anything you are not actively trading to a wallet you control. Binding both exchanges to Fee Otter costs nothing extra, and it lets you split your trading without giving up the rebate on either side.

Which one should you pick?

  • You want the lowest fees and trade major coins or major US stocks: Gate. Its net taker is 0.015 points lower (0.015% vs 0.03%).
  • You place large orders, or trade tickers like SPY that barely trade on Gate: Binance. SPY volume is 116 times higher, so slippage easily exceeds the 1.5 USDT per 10,000 USDT rebate gap.
  • You mostly use limit orders: Gate. Net maker is 0.006% against 0.012% on Binance; but if your orders fall under Binance's TradFi 0% maker promotion, Binance is cheaper for that part.
  • You hold spot: Gate. Even though BNB takes more off than GT, Gate is still lower after the rebate (0.0315% vs 0.045%).
  • You want the fullest product range, Hong Kong stocks or pre-IPO names: Binance.
  • You want early access to new and small-cap coins: Gate, with fast listings and broad altcoin coverage.
  • You do both kinds of trading: bind both: large orders and thin stock perps on Binance, everything else on Gate, with rebates in one dashboard.

Next step: do not let your fees earn back only 20%. For Gate's high rebate, sign up through Fee Otter's referral link (code FEEOTTER); the link and steps are on the Gate referral code page. For Binance, see the Binance referral code page. If you already have an account, follow the Gate rebind guide to sign up again with a new email, or the Binance rebind guide to add a referrer or rebind. Once your UID is bound, rebates start from your next fee.

Frequently asked questions

Which has lower trading fees, Binance or Gate?

The listed fees are the same, and after the rebate Gate is roughly half the cost. Both charge 0.02% maker and 0.05% taker on futures; when you bind through Fee Otter, the net taker is 0.03% on Binance and 0.015% on Gate.

Why is Gate's rebate so much higher than Binance's?

Because Gate's affiliate share is higher to begin with. Both have a 20% first layer, but Gate's second layer is 50% (45% on spot) while Binance's is 20%, so Gate pays 30 points more.

What is the Gate referral code?

The Gate referral code is FEEOTTER, built into the dedicated link; Binance's referral code is also FEEOTTER. On Gate a wrong code counts as no code, and it cannot be added or changed after signup.

For tokenized US stocks, should I use Binance or Gate?

It depends on order size and ticker. Gate's net cost is half (75 vs 150 USDT on 500,000 USDT a month, all taker) and it lists 183 tickers, but Binance trades far more: about 9 times on CL and about 116 times on SPY. Small orders and major tickers suit Gate; large orders or thin tickers suit Binance.

I already have a Gate account. How do I get the rebate?

Sign up again with a new email through Fee Otter's dedicated link (code FEEOTTER). Gate does not let you add a code later, but one KYC can register up to 5 accounts; the new account is bound as soon as you sign up, and its fees start earning rebates from then on.

I already have a Binance account. Can I still add a referrer?

Yes, if it is less than 30 days old, has no deposits or trades, and has no referrer. Otherwise you need to rebind: the official bind-ref request, or KYC transfer 35 days after deleting the account.

How is the rebate calculated if I pay fees with BNB or GT?

It is calculated on the fee you actually pay after the discount. Binance spot with BNB is 0.075%, or 0.045% after the rebate; Gate spot with GT is 0.09%, or 0.0315% after the rebate. The rebate amount is smaller, but your total cost is lower.

ⓘ Rates shown are for futures; spot: Gate 65%.
