Are Crypto Fee Rebates Real? Is Binding a Code Safe?

Where the money actually comes from, whether an exchange can cancel it, and what risks binding a referral code does and does not carry.

Fee rebates are real and compliant: the money is the official commission an exchange pays its referring channels, not grey income, and it doesn't change your order price or fills. Registering with a referral code and binding needs only your UID, with no API key, withdrawal permission or password, and the exchange won't cancel your account for earning a rebate; only rule-breaking such as self-trading to inflate volume gets handled (checked October 2026).

The other question is how much you get back. Most KOL referral codes you find online give only 20%; when bound through Fee Otter, Binance pays 40% (2× a common code), Bitget 50% (2.5×) and Gate 70% (3.5×). At 1,000 USDT of monthly fees, a common 20% code returns 200 USDT, while binding through Fee Otter returns 400 to 700 USDT. (Rebate table as of September 2026.)

Quick answer

  • Where the money comes from: commission paid to channels under the exchange's public referral or affiliate program, not grey income.
  • What binding needs: only your UID; no password, API key or withdrawal permission.
  • Account bans: no; only rule-breaking behaviour such as self-trading to inflate volume gets handled.
  • How you get paid: settled daily, and you can request a USDT withdrawal at any time.
  • How much: binding through Fee Otter pays 2 to 3.5 times a common 20% code (OKX 20% auto-rebate + exclusive rewards).

Is rebate real? Where does the money come from?

Yes, it's real. To acquire users, an exchange pays a commission to the channel that brought them in; the channel returns part of it to the user, and that's the rebate. It's the exchange's public referral/affiliate program, not a loophole. Some exchanges use "charge then refund": they charge your fee at the normal price, then refund the rebate afterwards, so your order price never looks different. See how rebate is settled.

This mechanism is published on the exchanges' own sites for anyone to check. The official Binance affiliate program guide states that invitees get part of their spot fees back, and Bybit's official help page explains how to add and check a referral code. A rebate platform simply passes a larger share of the channel commission back to you.

Is binding with a referral code safe? Can I be hacked?

Binding needs only your exchange UID (a public account number). It does not need:

  • an API key or trading permission;
  • withdrawal permission;
  • your login password or 2FA code.

A UID can only confirm that an account signed up under our referral code; it can't move your assets or place orders. Your funds stay on the exchange, controlled by you.

What binding uses and what it never touches

ItemNeeded for a rebate?Notes
Exchange UIDYesA public account number, used only to confirm the binding
Login password, verification codesNoNever give these to anyone who asks
API keyNoA rebate does not need to read or operate your account
Withdrawal permissionNoYour assets always stay in your exchange account
Moving funds to the rebate platformNoThe platform pays you, not the other way round

For where to find your UID and what it looks like, see how to find your exchange UID. The referral code itself is entered once at signup; every exchange's code is in the exchange referral code list.

Can the exchange cancel or ban me?

No. Registering with a referral code is normal behaviour the exchange encourages. The only thing to avoid is breaking the exchange's own rules (wash trading, multi-account arbitrage and similar anti-abuse terms), which has nothing to do with rebates and would be actioned anyway. Trading normally and earning a rebate carries no risk.

Common mistakes: where the real risks are

The rebate mechanism never touches your assets. When something goes wrong, it is usually one of these unrelated actions:

  • Handing over a password or API key: a legitimate rebate platform needs only your UID; do not go along with requests for more access.
  • Logging in through an unofficial address: sign up and log in only via the exchange's official site or app to avoid phishing pages.
  • Inflating volume for rebates: self-trading and wash trades trigger the exchange's anti-abuse terms; that has nothing to do with the rebate platform and should not be done anyway.
  • Using a 20%-only code by accident: not a safety issue, but the most common loss: a code cannot be changed once bound, so fixing it means an add-later window or a rebind per the exchange rebind rules summary.

Could the platform take the commission and disappear?

Fee Otter's rebate settles daily, is checkable anytime and can be paid out on request: on the rebate platform you see your accruing available balance each day and request USDT withdrawals, with no lock-ups or high thresholds. You can pull out what you've already earned at any time, rather than parking money with the platform.

Is it free? How does the platform make money?

It is free: you pay nothing extra; rebate is a refund of fees you already paid. The platform's income is the commission the exchange pays: we return most of it to you and keep a small portion to operate. Your share per exchange: Gate 70%, WEEX 70%, XT.COM 70%, MEXC 60%, Bitget 50%, HTX 50%, Pionex 50% (15% exchange auto-rebate + 35% Fee Otter extra rebate), Binance 40%, Bybit 40% (OKX 20% auto-rebate + exclusive rewards).

Equally safe, very different payouts

Since every code is equally safe to bind, the only difference left is the rebate rate. Here is the effective futures taker fee with a common 20% code versus the rate when bound through Fee Otter:

With the same UID-only binding and the same zero access to your assets, at 1,000 USDT of monthly fees a common 20% code returns 2,400 USDT a year, while binding through Fee Otter returns 4,800 on Binance and 8,400 on Gate.

Safe either way, so pick the better rate

A rebate is a public exchange mechanism; binding uses only your UID and never affects your orders or touches your assets. With safety being equal, there is no reason to settle for a common code's 20%: register with our referral code (on Gate it is FEEOTTER) and bind Fee Otter now for 2 to 3.5 times the rebate. See the Bybit registration guide for the steps and the Binance referral code page for details.

FAQ

Yes. It comes from the exchange's public referral/affiliate program, an acquisition mechanism the exchange offers on purpose, and it is fully compliant. You're simply using a code to reclaim the part a channel would otherwise keep.

Does binding my UID expose my assets or trade history?

No. A UID is just an account number used to confirm the binding; it can't view your assets, place orders or withdraw. The related data shown on this site is also anonymized.

Will the exchange catch or cancel me for earning rebate?

No. Registering with a referral code is permitted. As long as you don't break the exchange's anti-abuse rules (e.g. wash trading), trading normally and earning rebate is fine.

How fast does rebate arrive, and how is it paid out?

It settles daily; you can check your available balance and request a USDT withdrawal anytime on the rebate platform. See how rebate is settled and when it arrives. Fee Otter's withdrawal minimum is 1 USDT per request, and minimums differ between rebate sites; see crypto rebate sites compared.

Why can you offer a rebate higher than 20%?

Because the commission the exchange pays the channel is already higher than the 20% it auto-rebates to you, and we return most of it. See why it can exceed 20%.

How much more do you get by binding through Fee Otter instead of a common code?

Through Fee Otter, Binance and Bybit reach 40%, Bitget 50%, MEXC 60% and Gate 70%. At 1,000 USDT of monthly fees a common 20% code returns 200 USDT, while binding through Fee Otter returns 400 to 700 USDT (Gate referral code: FEEOTTER).

I already registered with someone else's code. Can I switch?

A bound code cannot be changed directly; switching means a rebind. Accounts with no referrer can add a code within the official window: 30 days on Binance and MEXC, and 14 days on Bybit and Pionex. See the exchange rebind rules summary for each method.
