How to Register on Gate (2026): Sign-up and KYC

Sign up for Gate with code FEEOTTER and get 70% back on futures, with 20% automatic from Gate. No phone needed, and one KYC can open 5 accounts.

Signing up for Gate takes six steps: open the official signup page through Fee Otter's dedicated link, choose the Email or Phone tab, check that the Referral Code field shows our code FEEOTTER, set up security verification, complete KYC as needed and deposit, then bind your UID on Fee Otter. A phone number is optional and KYC is only needed for features that require it. A wrong code can't be fixed after signup, but one KYC identity can register up to 5 accounts, so you can start over with a new email. The futures rebate is 70% (20% automatic from Gate + 50% Fee Otter extra), 3.5 times a typical 20% referral code (checked October 2026).

What does the Gate signup page look like?

When you arrive through our dedicated link, the "Create Account" form is on the right. At the top you can switch between the Email and Phone tabs. Below is the Referral Code field, already filled in with FEEOTTER. On the left is the Fee Otter signup page Gate set up for us, which lists the automatic rebate this code gives on each product line: 20% on spot, futures, Alpha, DEX, and CFD. The tokenized US stocks (Stocks) column shows "--".

What do you need before signing up?

  • An email address is enough. A phone number is not required.
  • An authenticator app or a device that supports passkeys, in place of SMS verification.
  • Prepare an ID only when you need a feature that requires KYC.

Gate Referral code FEEOTTER
This is the actual Gate signup page opened through our link, with the code already filled in. Plenty of codes that advertise high rebates come without a single screenshot, and people only find out after signing up that no rebate arrives. We put up each exchange's signup page or dashboard so you can check before you register.

Gate signup steps

If you see the 20% automatic rebate listed on the left, you came in through the right link.

Step 2: Choose the Email or Phone tab and enter your account

A phone number is not required on Gate. You can sign up with email.

Step 3: Check that the Referral Code field is filled in

The field should read FEEOTTER. Gate doesn't let you add a code after signup, so if this field is wrong, your only option is to sign up again.

Step 4: Set up security verification

If you don't link a phone, you can use a passkey or Google Authenticator in place of SMS verification.

Step 5: Complete KYC as needed and deposit

See the next section.

Step 6: Bind your UID

The number under your avatar is your UID. Go to the Fee Otter rebate dashboard, choose Gate, and paste it in.

Gate KYC: how many accounts can one identity open?

Gate identity verification requires an ID and a face scan. The verification level each feature needs follows Gate's official rules at the time. The biggest difference from other exchanges: one KYC can register up to 5 accounts. So if you entered the wrong referral code, you don't need to close your original account. Just sign up again with a new email through our dedicated link.

Who is Gate for?

Founded in 2013, Gate is one of the longest-running exchanges. It lists many coins, adds new ones quickly, and covers a wide range of altcoins. It suits you if you want to trade new or small coins as soon as they list, or if you care about the rebate rate.

The futures rebate is 70%: 20% returned automatically by Gate plus a 50% Fee Otter extra rebate.

What are Gate's fees?

Gate's list fees for regular users are the same as Binance's. The difference is all in the rebate:

Trade typeMakerTakerPlatform token discount
Spot0.10%0.10%0.09% on spot with GT (about 10% off)
USDT-margined futures0.02%0.05%

This table shows list prices as of September 2026. Gate may change them. For the latest fees, see the Gate official fee page. For the spot and futures fee structure from 2026 onward, see the Gate official fee structure upgrade announcement.

How does Gate's net fee compare with similar exchanges?

The list fee is only the starting point. The "net taker" fee after you bind for rebates is what you actually pay on every futures market order (net fee = list fee × (1 − rebate rate)):

ExchangeFutures taker list feeNet taker after rebate
Gate0.05%0.015%
Binance0.05%0.03%
Bitget0.06%0.03%
MEXC0.04%0.016%

Among these exchanges, Gate has the lowest net taker (0.015%), with MEXC close behind (0.016%). The difference between them is products and coins, with Gate listing new tokens quickly and covering more altcoins.

What is the cheapest way to place your first futures order?

Take 2,500 USDT of margin at 20x leverage. The notional position is 50,000 USDT. Fees are charged on the notional position, not the margin. On Gate:

  • Market order (taker 0.05%): the opening fee is 25 USDT. After binding, 17.5 USDT comes back, so you pay 7.5 USDT.
  • Filled limit order (maker 0.02%): the opening fee is 10 USDT. 7 USDT comes back, so you pay 3 USDT.

Counting opening and closing as one round trip, you pay 15 USDT with market orders and 6 USDT with limit orders. Use limit orders when you can, then add the rebate on top.

How is the rebate calculated after you sign up with a referral code?

The Gate rebate works like this: the 20% from the referral code is refunded automatically by Gate. After you bind your UID, Fee Otter adds another 50%, for a total of 70% on futures.

How much can you save in a month?

Here are three trading volumes, calculated with Gate's futures list taker fee:

Monthly futures volumeMonthly feesRefund with a typical 20% codeRefund with our code (70%)
100,000 USDT501035
500,000 USDT25050175
2,000,000 USDT1,000200700

All figures assume market orders (taker 0.05%), in USDT per month.

When does the rebate arrive, and where can you see it?

The 20% from our code is paid by Gate under its own rules. The extra 50% is calculated trade by trade by Fee Otter after the daily report is published, and is usually added to your available balance on the rebate dashboard on T+1. Because Gate's rate is high, the same fees bring back more money here than on most exchanges.

The most common mistakes new Gate users make

  • Leaving out or mistyping the code. Gate's referral code is FEEOTTER. A wrong code is the same as no code, and you can't add one after signup.
  • Estimating with the wrong platform token discount. GT cuts spot fees by about 10%, less than BNB's 25%. Don't calculate based on your Binance experience.
  • Assuming tokenized US stocks also get the 20% automatic rebate. The Stocks column on the signup page shows "--". The actual rate is whatever the platform currently shows.
  • Thinking you must link a phone to use Gate. A phone number is not required. You can use a passkey or Google Authenticator.

The first thing to do after signup

  1. Set up a passkey or Google Authenticator: for an account without a linked phone, this is your main line of defense.
  2. Bind your UID: Gate pays 70% in total on futures. The earlier you bind, the more you get back.
  3. Confirm the products you trade have an automatic rebate: spot, futures, Alpha, DEX, and CFD get 20%. Tokenized US stocks are calculated separately.

Already have a Gate account?

Gate doesn't let you add a code after signup, but rebinding is the easiest of all: one KYC can have up to 5 accounts. Sign up again with a new email through our dedicated link, which fills in the code. You can keep your original account. For details, see the Gate rebind guide for existing users.

Risks to know before using Gate

Gate’s rebate terms are good, but know these risks before you deposit:

  • Licences belong to specific regional entities: Gate Group’s Maltese company obtained an EU MiCA licence in September 2025 (MiCA register) and its Dubai company a Dubai VARA licence in April 2025 (VARA public register). Those licences cover users of those entities; an account opened on the global site may fall under a different operating entity with different protections, so read the terms when you sign up.
  • Third-party rating: CoinGecko gives Gate a trust score of 10/10; the score weighs volume legitimacy, liquidity, cybersecurity and past incidents, and is not a guarantee for your assets.
  • Don’t keep long-term or large balances on the exchange: keep only the funds you are actively trading; withdraw money you aren’t trading and anything you hold long term.
  • Use a cold wallet for long-term holdings: move large, long-term assets to a hardware cold wallet (such as a Ledger) and keep them offline.
  • Futures and high leverage are high risk: the higher the leverage, the easier it is to be liquidated. Beginners should avoid high leverage and learn the rules with small amounts first.
