KuCoin trading bots charge no subscription, only trading fees, but the rates differ from manual orders: spot bots always pay the LV0 rate minus 20% (0.08% on Class A coins), with no VIP rate and no KCS deduction, and futures bots pay a flat 0.06%, even on maker fills. KuCoin lists more than ten strategies, including Spot Grid, Infinity Grid, Martingale, Smart Rebalance, DCA, Margin Grid, Futures Grid and Futures Martingale; since October 2026 Futures Grid goes up to 125x (checked 2026-10-17).
This guide is based on the trading bot articles in the KuCoin Help Center. It covers what each bot does, the parameter ranges and minimums KuCoin publishes, what happens when the price leaves the range or you stop a bot, how fees are charged, and an example of the rebate on bot trades. Bots trade often, so fees add up faster than with manual trading: sign up on KuCoin with our code FEEOTTER and get a 60% rebate (all paid automatically by KuCoin), 3× the 20% most codes give, and bot fills count.

Spot Grid: parameters and leaving the range
- Range and grid count: set the upper price, lower price and number of grids yourself, or choose "Auto" and let the AI decide from past prices. KuCoin doesn't state a current grid cap; the only figure is "up to 200 grids" from a 2022 notice.
- Leaving the range: trading stops when the price moves outside the range; per the official FAQ it starts placing orders again once the price returns. Below the range you hold the coin; above it you hold only USDT.
- Fee check: the official FAQ says the Classic Grid only places an order when the grid profit is greater than the trading fees.
- Optional settings: stop-loss, take-profit, entry price, grid profit reinvestment, and "Suspend Bot", which cancels open orders; take-profit and stop-loss don't trigger while suspended.
Grid profit only becomes yours after two fees: a buy and a sell each pay 0.08% on Class A coins, so a 0.3% profit per grid leaves about 0.14% after 0.16% in fees.
Futures Grid: 125x, liquidation and neutral mode
According to the KuCoin Futures Grid upgrade announcement, from October 5, 2026 Futures Grid leverage on all USDT-margined perpetuals went from 10x up to a maximum of 125x. The actual cap and maximum grid count depend on the pair and are shown on the creation page; bots created before the upgrade are unaffected. Some older Help Center articles still say "1 to 10x", which is now out of date.
- Directions: long, short and neutral (Neutral Futures Grid). Auto-add margin works for long and short only, not neutral.
- Profit: grid profit + floating PnL + funding fees.
- Grid count: KuCoin notes that more grids mean less profit per grid and a higher minimum investment.
- Liquidation: the announcement warns that if the price leaves the range and keeps trending one way, the position may build large unrealized losses or be liquidated; the liquidation price shown at creation includes a ±2% buffer (KuCoin liquidation price). KuCoin may also lower the maximum leverage on individual pairs for market risk.
What happens when you stop a bot
- Spot Grid: three exit options: return both coins separately, convert everything to the quote coin (such as USDT) at market, or convert everything to the base coin.
- Futures Grid: profit or loss is realized and funds move automatically from the bot account to your trading account.
- Futures Martingale: all orders are cancelled, and you choose whether to sell at market or keep the coin.
- Large positions: the official FAQ says closing can take longer when the position is large or prices are moving fast.
Other account rules: bot funds sit in "ROBOT + number" sub-accounts, one account can run up to 60 bots at a time, sub-accounts can't create bots, and bots can't currently be run through the API (KuCoin bot FAQ). You can copy another user's grid settings from the rankings in one click; the official pages mention no profit share for copied settings.
How bot fees are charged
| Type | Bot rate | Manual order (VIP0) |
|---|---|---|
| Spot bot (Class A) | 0.08% / 0.08% | 0.1% / 0.1% (0.08% with KCS) |
| Spot bot (Class B) | 0.16% / 0.16% | 0.2% / 0.2% |
| Spot bot (Class C) | 0.24% / 0.24% | 0.3% / 0.3% |
| Futures bot | Flat 0.06% (maker and taker) | 0.02% maker, 0.06% taker |
Per the KuCoin bot fee rules, spot bots get 20% off the LV0 maker/taker rate for the chosen coin and the KCS deduction does not apply, while futures strategies pay a fixed 0.06%. The official FAQ adds that VIP rates don't apply to bots. The Class B and C bot rates are our own calculation from the "LV0 minus 20%" rule. Futures bots pay 0.06% even on maker fills, 3× the 0.02% manual maker rate, and every grid fill pays it.
Do bot trades earn a rebate?
Yes. The KuCoin referral page lists eligible trades as spot (including spot, margin and trading bots) and futures; the same page says API trading is not currently eligible, and KuCoin's bots are an on-site feature that doesn't go through the API. Sign up with code FEEOTTER and KuCoin returns 60% automatically. Fee Otter has no extra layer on KuCoin, so there's nothing else to do. Loan interest and futures funding are not trading fees and aren't covered.
