XT.COM futures are mostly USDT-margined perpetuals. BTC_USDT allows up to 150x on positions up to 300,000 USDT notional, with a 0.4% maintenance margin rate, and defaults to 20x cross margin. Liquidation uses the mark price, and funding settles every 8 hours. Most contracts charge 0.04% maker and 0.06% taker; with Fee Otter's 70% futures rebate, taker comes down to 0.018% (checked October 2026).
Sign up with our XT.COM code FEEOTTER and you get a 70% futures rebate, 3.5 times a common 20% code. This guide uses XT.COM's official public futures API and official documentation for fees, risk limits, liquidation, funding and order types, queried on 2026-10-07. Futures can wipe out your whole margin quickly, and 150x only means liquidation is very close; it is not a recommendation. Leverage and minimum order sizes across exchanges are compared in futures for beginners: exchanges compared.
Contract types and fees
XT.COM has USDT-margined (USDT-M) and coin-margined (COIN-M) futures, each with perpetual and quarterly delivery contracts. The USDT-M contract API on 2026-10-07 listed 758 contracts that are displayed and tradable: 754 perpetuals and 4 quarterly contracts. COIN-M has 30 tradable perpetuals. USDT-M fees fall into three groups:
| Maker / Taker | Contracts | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| 0.04% / 0.06% | 470 | BTC_USDT, ETH_USDT |
| 0.02% / 0.06% | 287 | XAU_USDT and others |
| 0% / 0% | 1 | n/a |
Taker is always 0.06%, while maker is 0.04% or 0.02% depending on the contract. The VIP table on the fee page lists a VIP0 futures maker fee of 0.02%, which differs from the API figure for most contracts; the order page and your trade history are what count. Rates for each VIP tier are in XT.COM VIP tiers. Rebates are paid on the fees you actually pay, and the 0.06% taker fee on every market order is the main source of your rebate.
Before you start: accounts, margin modes and KYC
- Open the futures account first: move funds from the spot account to the USDT-M futures account; internal transfers are free. Before your first transfer, XT.COM prompts you to activate futures on the trading page.
- Cross and isolated margin: BTC_USDT supports both and defaults to 20x cross. Isolated limits losses to that position's margin; cross draws on the futures account's available balance.
- KYC: spot and futures trading on XT.COM do not require identity verification; fiat and P2P do (official registration and KYC guide). Sign-up steps are in the XT.COM registration guide.
BTC_USDT specs and risk limits
XT.COM futures are sized in contracts: one BTC_USDT contract is 0.0001 BTC, the minimum is 1 contract and the minimum notional is 10 USDT. There are 14 risk tiers; the larger the notional, the lower the maximum leverage and the higher the maintenance margin rate (risk limit API):
| Tier | Max notional (USDT) | Max leverage | Maintenance margin | Initial margin |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 300K | 150x | 0.4% | 0.66% |
| 2 | 1M | 125x | 0.42% | 0.8% |
| 3 | 2M | 100x | 0.5% | 1% |
| 4 | 5M | 75x | 0.67% | 1.3% |
| 5 | 10M | 50x | 1% | 2% |
| 6 | 80M | 25x | 2% | 4% |
| 7 | 100M | 20x | 2.5% | 5% |
| 8 | 150M | 10x | 5% | 10% |
| 9 | 200M | 8x | 6.25% | 12.5% |
| 10 | 300M | 5x | 10% | 20% |
| 11 | 450M | 4x | 12.5% | 25% |
| 12 | 600M | 3x | 15% | 30% |
| 13 | 800M | 2x | 25% | 50% |
| 14 | 1B | 1x | 50% | 100% |
Most positions sit in tier 1: up to 300,000 USDT notional at a 0.4% maintenance margin rate. Other contracts have different tiers; check "Contract info" on the trading page.
Liquidation: mark price and margin ratio
XT.COM's official guide to USDT-M perpetuals says liquidation is based on the mark price, not the last traded price, and triggers when a position's margin ratio is equal to or below 0. For isolated margin, the ratio is roughly account equity ÷ occupied margin minus an adjustment factor; cross margin combines the occupied margin of all cross positions.
Liquidation does not wait for the margin to hit zero. It triggers once equity falls to about the maintenance margin, so the liquidation price arrives before the zero-margin price.
Worked example: 0.01 BTC long, 10x isolated
This uses a common isolated-margin estimate with a mark price of about 84,000 USDT at the time of the query and the tier-1 maintenance rate of 0.4%. It leaves out fees and funding; the estimated liquidation price on the order page is what counts.
| Item | Formula | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Contracts and notional | 100 × 0.0001 × 84,000 | 840 USDT |
| Position margin (10x) | 840 ÷ 10 | 84 USDT |
| Maintenance margin (0.4%) | 840 × 0.4% | 3.36 USDT |
| Estimated liquidation price | (840 − 84 + 3.36) ÷ 0.01 | about 75,936 USDT (about 9.6% lower) |
| Zero-margin price | (840 − 84) ÷ 0.01 | 75,600 USDT |
| Taker fees, open + close | 840 × 0.06% × 2 | about 1.01 USDT |
At 100x, margin is 1% of notional; after the 0.4% maintenance margin, a move of about 0.6% against you liquidates the position. In cross mode the liquidation price also moves with other positions' PnL and with funding.
When a position is liquidated, its margin is usually lost in full, and in fast markets the outcome can be worse than the estimated liquidation price. Only trade futures with money you can afford to lose entirely.
Funding: every 8 hours on BTC_USDT
Perpetuals have no expiry, so funding keeps the contract price close to spot. Funding is exchanged between longs and shorts: when the rate is positive longs pay shorts, when negative shorts pay longs, and the amount is roughly position value × funding rate. The BTC_USDT funding rate API on 2026-10-07 showed an 8-hour interval, a next settlement at 16:00 UTC (00:00 UTC+8) and a current rate of −0.004987%. On that cycle, BTC_USDT settles at 00:00, 08:00 and 16:00 UTC, which is 08:00, 16:00 and 00:00 UTC+8. Other contracts may use a different interval; check the contract page.
- In money: on the 840 USDT position above, a 0.01% rate means paying or receiving about 0.084 USDT per settlement.
- Funding moves the liquidation price: funding you pay reduces margin, so the liquidation price shifts.
On positions held for days, funding can cost more than trading fees. Check the current rate and countdown on the contract page before you open.
Order types and TP/SL
According to the BTC_USDT contract spec, XT.COM supports limit and market orders, with time-in-force options GTC (good till filled or cancelled), IOC (fill now, cancel the rest), FOK (fill completely or cancel) and GTX (post-only, cancelled if it would take). Conditional orders include take-profit and stop-loss, each in limit and market versions, plus a market trailing stop. GTX is the simplest way to make sure you pay the maker rate.
XT.COM's contract info pages also cover a risk reserve ("Provision of risks"), which XT.COM describes as protecting traders from losses beyond their principal, along with quarterly delivery contracts, funding rates, index prices and risk limits.
Effective fees after the rebate
Bind code FEEOTTER through Fee Otter and XT.COM pays a 70% futures rebate (60% automatic from the exchange plus 10% extra from Fee Otter):
| Case | Listed fee | After 70% rebate |
|---|---|---|
| Taker (all contracts) | 0.06% | 0.018% |
| Maker (BTC_USDT and similar) | 0.04% | 0.012% |
| Maker (0.02% contracts) | 0.02% | 0.006% |
On the 840 USDT BTC_USDT position above, opening and closing as taker costs about 1.01 USDT, or about 0.30 USDT after the 70% rebate. The rebate does not change your margin or liquidation price. Monthly volume examples are in the XT.COM fee rebate guide, and the effective-rate math is in perpetual fees after rebate. XT.COM codes cannot be added after signup; existing users should read the XT.COM rebind guide.
