On Binance P2P you buy USDT from another user: you send rupiah to the seller's bank account or e-wallet, and Binance locks the seller's USDT in escrow until you pay. At 14:51 UTC+8 on 2026-10-22 there were 244 "buy USDT with IDR" ads, the cheapest at Rp17,970 per USDT (minimum order Rp1,000,000). Binance says P2P "may charge transaction fees from takers/makers", and the per-market rates only show after you log in; on IDR trades, bank and e-wallet fees are paid by the buyer.
This guide covers what Binance's official pages say about buying, the account-name rule, appeals, the most common scams and account freezes, plus ad data we pulled directly from Binance's public P2P endpoint. If you're using an offshore exchange from Indonesia, read the OJK note below first. This is not legal or investment advice.
Quick answer
- Requirements: Binance KYC done, SMS verification on, and at least one 2FA method (email, Authenticator or security key).
- Fees: Binance may charge makers or takers per completed order; the IDR rate isn't visible without logging in, so check the order page. The buyer pays the bank transfer fee.
- Payment window: all 20 top ads we checked gave 15 minutes to pay.
- Account name: must match your Binance KYC name exactly. Pay from someone else's account and your P2P access is suspended for at least 7 days.
- Rebate: P2P orders aren't trading fees, so they earn no rebate. Once the USDT lands, Binance spot and futures fees with code FEEOTTER get a 40% rebate (20% automatic rebate from Binance + 20% extra rebate from Fee Otter).
Before using Binance from Indonesia: the OJK position
OJK has supervised crypto assets in Indonesia since 10 January 2025. Satgas PASTI press release SP 11/STPASTI/VI/2026 (22 June 2026) attaches a list of entities submitted for blocking, and Binance's global entity is on it. Licensed providers are on OJK's official list (checked 2026-10-22).
Satgas PASTI: crypto trading "can only be carried out by parties that are registered with and hold an official licence from OJK." (OJK release, 22 June 2026)
We found no official text saying individual users break the law by using an offshore exchange. For the public, OJK's word is "mengimbau" (urges): trade only on platforms on the official list, because platforms outside it aren't supervised by OJK. Binance's own P2P policy also puts compliance with local law on the user. The licensed local-exchange route is in depositing rupiah to crypto exchanges.

Verified merchants carry a yellow badge next to their nickname (Introduction to Binance P2P Trading, updated 9 May 2024, checked 2026-10-22). The seller column also shows 30-day order count and completion rate; the top sellers in our data ranged from 33 to nearly 12,000 orders a month.
Binance P2P fees
Binance's introduction page says P2P "may charge transaction fees from takers/makers for every completed order", that fees vary by market, and that payment providers may charge extra. The Fees & Transactions Overview page shows only "Please log in to view your exclusive rates" when logged out, so we can't quote the IDR rate. Check the fee line on the order page before you tap Buy.
On bank fees, the P2P User Transaction Policy (updated 12 May 2026, checked 2026-10-22) is explicit: "For RUB, UAH, KZT, IDR, and BDT transactions: the Seller should always receive the full amount, and the Buyer is always responsible for fiat transaction fees". So if your transfer carries a fee of, say, Rp2,500, it can't come out of what the seller receives; the seller has to get the exact order amount.
How to buy USDT on Binance P2P
These steps follow How to Buy Cryptocurrency via P2P Trading on Binance App (updated 13 March 2026, checked 2026-10-22).
Open P2P
in the Binance app, tap Add Funds, then P2P Trading. There are two zones: P2P (you pick the ad) and Express (the system picks the best-priced ad).Pick a seller
filter by rupiah amount and payment method. Check the merchant badge, 30-day order count, completion rate and the ad's min/max limits.Read the seller's terms
enter the USDT amount, read the terms, then Place Order. As soon as the order exists, the seller's USDT is locked in escrow.Pay within the window
tap View Payment Details and transfer from an account in your own name to the seller account shown in the order. Don't write "Binance", "BTC" or "P2P" in the transfer note.Mark as paid
once the money has actually left your account, tap Transferred, Notify Seller. The status changes to Releasing.Receive the USDT
after the seller checks the payment, the USDT is released to your Funding Account. Move it to Spot or Futures before trading.
Cancel three orders in one day and your buy function is suspended for the rest of that day. If you've already paid, don't tap Cancel until the seller has refunded you.
The account-name rule
Binance's P2P transaction policy says the paying account must be in a name "identical to your verified personal/corporate name on Binance". Pay from an account that isn't yours and "The User's P2P function will be suspended for a minimum of 7 days", and in a dispute the buyer bears the loss alone. In the other direction, only pay a seller account whose name matches the seller's verified Binance name; don't pay a third-party account even if the seller asks in chat.
Binance also discourages payment methods that don't show the payer's name to the seller. If a dispute comes out of one, the policy says the buyer bears the loss.
If the seller doesn't release: appeals
Per the Binance P2P Appeal Handling Rules (updated 15 October 2024, checked 2026-10-22):
- If you paid by a real-time method and the seller hasn't released within 15 minutes, Binance support contacts the seller. If the seller doesn't respond in time, an agent releases the crypto manually.
- For non-instant transfers, the seller is asked to release within two working days.
- If the seller holds out for a higher price, the order is still released as long as the ad price isn't more than 10% below market; for orders above 1,000 USD the threshold is 5%.
- If the order was auto-cancelled after you paid, Binance asks the seller for a refund "on a best effort basis" and isn't liable if the seller refuses.
Keep your transfer receipt and record your bank app's transaction history before appealing. Appeals are filed from the order page.
The most common scams
Binance lists these patterns in How to Avoid Common P2P Scams (checked 2026-10-22). Most target sellers, but buyers should know them too:
| Pattern | How it works | How to avoid it |
|---|---|---|
| Fake proof of payment | An edited transfer screenshot, then pressure to release fast | Open your own bank app and check the money arrived |
| Fake SMS | A text that looks like a bank alert saying funds arrived | Ignore the SMS; check the bank app directly |
| Chargeback / third-party account | Payment from someone else's account that is later pulled back | The payer's name must match their verified Binance name |
| Man in the middle | The scammer arranges a deal on Telegram or WhatsApp and slips their bank account into someone else's order | Talk only in the P2P order chat |
| Triangle scam | Two orders at once, one payment proof used twice | Match every order to money actually received |
| Fake Binance staff | "Support" in the chat or by email asks you to release first or make an internal transfer | Binance never emails you asking you to complete a P2P order |
Anyone who asks you to trade outside the P2P order, or to pay an account in another person's name, has taken you outside Binance's escrow protection. You can check official emails and accounts at Binance Verify.
Account and P2P freezes
Section VI of the P2P transaction policy says Binance can freeze an account, or switch off P2P, withdrawals or trading, if a user refuses anti-money-laundering checks, the account is suspected of fraud, it receives funds of illegal origin, or someone else uses it (the account is sold, lent or rented). If a court ordered the freeze, the user has to deal with that judicial authority, not Binance.
For a P2P suspension, How to Lift My Binance P2P Account Suspension (updated 29 December 2025, checked 2026-10-22) points to the Restrictions Removal Center in the P2P User Center, then Submit appeal. You may be asked for a KYC video with a source-of-funds statement, a video of the payment in your bank app, and your last 3 months of bank statements. Binance says it reviews requests within 30 minutes. For withdrawals stuck outside P2P, see account frozen or withdrawal stuck.
Binance's official pages don't cover what your own bank does if your account receives problem funds; if you sell USDT for rupiah, check the payer's name on every transfer before you release.
Worked example: Rp10,000,000 into USDT
Using the 2026-10-22 data, buying from the cheapest ad and from the 20th:
| Ad | Price | USDT received |
|---|---|---|
| Cheapest | Rp17,970 | 10,000,000 ÷ 17,970 ≈ 556.48 USDT |
| 20th | Rp18,006 | 10,000,000 ÷ 18,006 ≈ 555.37 USDT |
The gap is about 1.11 USDT, before any P2P fee shown on the order and your bank's transfer fee. The cheapest ad caps orders at Rp3,000,000, so Rp10 million takes several orders or a different ad.
Once the money is in, trading fees are the cost that keeps coming back. Say you use those 556 USDT as futures margin and pay 50 USDT in trading fees in a month. With code FEEOTTER, 40% comes back: 10 USDT as Binance's automatic rebate, refunded straight into your Binance account, and 10 USDT as Fee Otter's extra rebate, paid as USDT on BNB Smart Chain (BEP20), minimum 1 USDT per request, with a 0.015 USDT network fee. Rates from Fee Otter's rate data (checked 2026-10-22). Details are in Binance fee rebate; no account yet, see how to register on Binance.
Risks
Your P2P counterparty is an individual, and funds can be stuck while an appeal runs. Binance says the platform isn't a party to P2P trades and has no obligation to cover losses outside its rules. An offshore exchange account gets no OJK consumer protection, and app access can be blocked at any time. Keep only the money you're actively using on the exchange. For tax on selling crypto, see Indonesia crypto tax.
Tap "Transferred, Notify Seller" only after the money has actually left your account. Marking an order paid before you pay can get your account suspended.
