Pionex's time-based DCA tool is the built-in TWAP bot. Pick Perpetual Mode, set an order period and an amount per buy, and the bot keeps buying on schedule until you stop it. The coins it collects return to your Primary Account only after you stop the bot; from there you withdraw through Wallet → Withdraw. The Pionex Help Center lists four order periods (10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute and 5 minutes), charges no bot fee, and charges the spot fee of 0.05% on each fill (Pionex Help Center, checked 2026-10-29).
The other bot people call DCA is the Martingale bot, which reacts to price instead of the clock: it adds to the position after each set drop and sells everything once the position rebounds to its target. This guide covers both: setup, pausing, which settings you can change, where to see your cost basis, how to withdraw, fees and the rebate. Sign up for Pionex with code FEEOTTER and get a 50% rebate (15% automatic rebate from the exchange + 35% extra from Fee Otter), and that includes orders placed by the TWAP and Martingale bots.
Quick answers
- Time-based DCA is the TWAP bot: in the app, Bot → Create (+) → TWAP. Perpetual Mode runs with no end date.
- Pausing: Pionex's pause feature covers grid-type bots. TWAP isn't on that list, and the spot Martingale bot is documented as stop-only. To take a break, stop the bot and create a new one later. Stopping and re-creating are free, with no cooldown.
- Changing settings: a running spot Martingale bot lets you change the price range and its take-profit and stop-loss percentages, and add or reduce investment. Pionex doesn't document what you can change on a running TWAP bot; check the "More" menu on its order page.
- Cost basis: TWAP fills are under Orders → Bot → History. On a Martingale bot, the current round's sell price equals average cost × (1 + take-profit ratio). Once coins are back in spot, the Fund Statement shows a cost price you can edit.
- Withdrawing: stop the bot so the coins return to your Primary Account, then withdraw. Withdrawals require Google Authenticator; USDT on BEP20 costs 0.2 USDT.
Pionex's two kinds of DCA
| TWAP bot | Martingale bot (DCA) | |
|---|---|---|
| When it buys | At a fixed time interval | After the price falls by a set step |
| When it sells | It doesn't; you collect the coins when you stop it | Sells the whole round at the take-profit target, then starts a new round |
| Modes | Limited (stops after N orders) / Perpetual (runs until you stop it) | Simple, Trailing, DIY and Composite |
| Pause | Not covered in Pionex's pause articles | Not supported; stop only |
| Suits | Buying in slices without picking a moment | A coin you expect to bounce after a dip |
The Pionex platform overview describes the TWAP Bot as one that "automates dollar-cost averaging on a schedule to smooth out cost basis", and the Martingale bot as buying in batches and selling in one go. Their rules differ, so they're covered separately below.
How to set up the TWAP bot
Open the create screen
in the app, tap Bot in the bottom bar → Create (+) → TWAP. On the website, choose TWAP from the trading tools list on the right of the trading page.Pick the pair and side
for example BTC/USDT, buy. TWAP can also sell in slices.Pick a mode
for open-ended DCA choose Perpetual Mode and set only the order period and the amount. For a fixed budget choose Limited Mode and add the number of transactions (minimum 2); it stops by itself when done.Set the order period and amount per order
the periods are 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute and 5 minutes. Each order must meet the pair's minimum order size.Confirm
keep enough USDT in the account. The system pre-locks the funds for the current cycle, so your available balance drops. Pionex says this is expected.
Source: Pionex TWAP Bot (marked "updated over 2 months ago"), checked 2026-10-29. Pionex's own example is ETH/USDT, 1,000 USDT every 10 seconds, 100 times, for 100,000 USDT in total. Because of trading precision each fill can be slightly off, and any unfilled remainder rolls into the next order.
ⓘ The Help Center lists only second- and minute-level periods, with no daily or weekly option. A 2020 Pionex blog tutorial for an older fixed-interval DCA bot mentioned intervals from 1 hour to 1 week; we couldn't confirm whether today's app still offers them, so go by the options on the create screen. If you want to buy once a week, you can open a Limited Mode TWAP each week and split that week's amount into a few orders.
Coins bought by a TWAP bot stay inside the bot and don't show in your Primary Account while it runs; to use them, you have to stop the bot first. Pionex's FAQ says the holdings return to your Primary Account once the bot is closed.
How to start a Martingale bot (price-based DCA)
App: Bot → Create, tap Spot, choose Martingale Bot → Simple Mode. Website: Spot → Spot Bot → All → DCA Bot (Martingale) → Simple Mode. Pick a pair, optionally tap AI Strategy and choose a risk preference, enter the investment and create the bot (DCA (Martingale) Bot, Simple Mode, checked 2026-10-29).
The bot splits the investment into parts and adds 1, 1, 2, 4, 8… parts after each drop. Every safety order and the take-profit order are limit orders on the book, and the take-profit price is based on the round's average cost, not the first entry price, so a round can close in profit before the price gets back to where it started. Each round's profit is spread back across the parts and reinvested in the next round. For what each setting does and the risks, see the Pionex trading bot guide.
TWAP ignores price and buys when the timer fires. Martingale ignores the clock and buys when the price drops. If you want to buy a little every week and leave it, use TWAP; use Martingale only if you want to buy more on dips and sell into the bounce.
Can you pause a DCA bot?
On Pionex, Pause cancels all open orders but keeps the position and settings, and you can resume later. Stop settles the bot: assets return to your Primary Account and the bot can't be resumed (Pausing, stopping and re-creating a trading bot). Pause is available only on one-way grid-type bots: Spot Grid, Futures Grid, COIN-M Futures Grid and the Hedging Bot (Bot Pause Feature, checked 2026-10-29).
- Spot Martingale: Pionex's table says it doesn't support Pause; Stop is the only option.
- TWAP: neither pause article covers it. Pionex says to tap "More" on the bot's order page to see whether Pause appears; if it doesn't, Stop is the only option.
In practice, then, you stop the bot and create a new one later. Pionex says there's no cooldown after stopping, and stopping and creating are free in themselves. A fee applies only when you choose to have the bot sell your holdings on stop, because that is a trade.
Which settings can you change while it runs?
From Pionex's Which parameters can (and can't) be changed while each type of trading bot is running (checked 2026-10-29):
| Bot | Can change | Locked |
|---|---|---|
| Spot Martingale (single coin) | Price range, take-profit %, stop-loss %, add or reduce investment | Price deviation, volume scale, number of safety orders, the per-round take-profit ratio, the signal |
| Martingale Composite Mode | Almost nothing | No adding or reducing either; the only option is to close and restart |
| TWAP | Not covered in that article; go by the options on the bot's order page, or ask Pionex Support | |
On almost every bot you can set take-profit and stop-loss, rename it, edit notes and stop it at any time. A system error when you edit usually means a value is outside the currently allowed range; adjust it and resubmit. If you want a different period or amount on a TWAP bot, the safe route is to stop it and create a new one.
Where to see your DCA cost basis
TWAP: work it out from the fills
A running TWAP bot sits in your Bot list. After it finishes or you stop it, go to Orders → Bot → History on the website, or Home → Bot → History in the app, to see every fill. Pionex doesn't say whether the TWAP detail page shows an average fill price, so the reliable formula is: average cost = total USDT spent ÷ total coins bought.
Martingale: back it out from the round's sell price
The Martingale detail page shows eight figures, including investment, total profit, arbitrage profit, trend PnL and the current round's sell price. Pionex states that the sell price = average cost × (1 + take-profit ratio), and the average cost already includes the fee on each buy. With a 1.5% take-profit ratio and a sell price of 101.5, the average cost is 101.5 ÷ 1.015 = 100.
Once the coins are back in spot: the Fund Statement
In the app, open Account and tap a coin to see its cost price, coin PnL and return in the Fund Statement. Pionex's formula: cost price = (previous average cost × quantity + this buy price × quantity) ÷ quantity held after the buy. It counts buys only and excludes fees (What is the Fund Statement?, checked 2026-10-29).
If you stop a bot with "Return holdings as-is", the coins are simply moved back to spot; that isn't a new purchase and doesn't trigger a cost-price recalculation in the Fund Statement. So note the bot's average cost before you stop it. You can edit the cost price with the pencil icon, but Pionex says only deposit (buy) records can be edited for now; the clock icon at the top right shows your edit history.
How to withdraw your DCA coins
Stop the bot
on the bot's order page tap More → Stop. A spot Martingale bot lets you return holdings as-is or have the bot sell them for USDT; for TWAP, Pionex says holdings return to your Primary Account.Check the coins are back
Wallet → Primary Account on the website, Home → My Account in the app. The Fund Statement shows a bot-closing record.Bind Google Authenticator
Pionex won't process a withdrawal without it; bind it under Account Settings → Security. You also need at least KYC level 1.Submit the withdrawal
Wallet → Withdraw → Withdraw, pick the coin and the network the receiving side uses, enter the address and amount, then confirm with your verification codes.
USDT withdrawal fees: BEP20 0.2, TRC20 1, ERC20 1.0522 and Plasma 0.011 USDT; the BEP20 minimum is 0.6 USDT (deposit and withdrawal fee guide, how to withdraw from Pionex, checked 2026-10-29). Once a withdrawal shows "Complete", the funds have left Pionex, and Pionex can't trace, freeze or reverse them. Logging in from a new IP or device can lock withdrawals for a while; network details and recovery rules are in our Pionex deposit and withdrawal guide.
DCA fees on Pionex
Pionex charges no bot fee, only a trading fee when an order fills: 0.05% maker and 0.05% taker on spot (Pionex trading fee overview, checked 2026-10-29). Each TWAP buy is one spot fill; on a Martingale bot every safety order and every take-profit sell counts as one. Stopping with "Return holdings as-is" is free, while "Sell on your behalf" adds one sell fee. VIP tiers cut the rate further; see Pionex VIP fee tiers.
Worked example: weekly BTC DCA, cost basis and rebate
Say you open a Limited Mode TWAP every Monday, 10 USDT per order, 10 orders, so 100 USDT of BTC a week for 4 weeks. Assume the four weeks fill at average prices of 100,000, 95,000, 90,000 and 105,000 USDT:
- BTC bought: 0.001 + 0.0010526 + 0.0011111 + 0.0009524 = about 0.0041161 BTC
- Average cost: 400 ÷ 0.0041161 = about 97,179 USDT (fees excluded)
- Buy fees over 4 weeks: 400 × 0.05% = 0.2 USDT
Over a year at 500 USDT a week, you'd buy 26,000 USDT over 52 weeks and pay 26,000 × 0.05% = 13 USDT in buy fees. With code FEEOTTER, the 50% rebate returns 6.5 USDT (1.95 automatic from the exchange + 4.55 extra from Fee Otter). When you sell later, that sell fee gets the same 50% back.
The rebate on DCA is small because there are few fills. If the same account also runs a grid or futures grid bot, the rate is the same 50%, and that is where most of the rebate comes from; grid examples are in the Pionex fee rebate guide.
Do DCA bot trades earn a rebate?
Yes. Pionex's Referral Rules v3 count spot, leveraged token and futures trades, on every pair, maker or taker, and TWAP and Martingale orders are ordinary spot fills in your account. Fee Otter's code FEEOTTER is on KOL terms, so the limits for non-KOL inviters (once the invitee reaches VIP2, or 365 days after sign-up) don't apply, and the rate stays at 50% (15% automatic rebate from the exchange + 35% extra from Fee Otter). Every trade that generates a fee, including bots, futures grids and arbitrage, has its commission passed to you.
- The automatic 15%: Pionex credits it to your account. In the app, Home → My Account → Primary Account → Spot Assets → USDT → History shows the cashback records.
- The extra 35%: after you bind your UID, Fee Otter settles it daily and pays it out as USDT on BEP20, minimum 1 USDT per request, with the 0.015 USDT network fee paid by you.
- New-account condition: Pionex requires the invitee to make a first deposit and trade within 30 days of sign-up, with at least 100 USDT deposited in total, for the referral to count.
- Forgot the code? You can add it within 14 days of sign-up, or within 72 hours if you've already created a bot or placed an order. A bound code can't be changed; see the Pionex rebind guide.
