Bybit's personal KYC has three levels: Standard (ID document plus face scan) lets you withdraw up to 1 million USDT a day; Advanced adds proof of address and raises that to 2 million USDT; Pro adds enhanced due diligence (a questionnaire and proof of income). Bybit says at least Standard is required for all its products and services, and unverified accounts can't deposit or trade. Review usually takes about 15 minutes and can take up to 48 hours (from Bybit's help center, checked 2026-10-17).
This guide is built from Bybit's help center articles on KYC level benefits, individual KYC steps, the KYC FAQ, rejection reasons, self-service updates and identity transfer. Your Bybit rebate depends on your referral code, not your KYC level: register with our code FEEOTTER and bind through Fee Otter for a 40% fee rebate (all of it Fee Otter's extra rebate; Bybit has no automatic exchange rebate layer), 2× a common 20% code. If you already completed KYC under someone else's code, the identity transfer section below shows what to do.
Key points
- Mandatory: the FAQ says at least Standard is required for all Bybit products and services; in the benefits table, unverified accounts can't deposit, trade, buy crypto or join events.
- What each level needs: Standard is an identity assessment plus proof of identity (POI); Advanced adds proof of address (POA); Pro adds enhanced due diligence (EDD).
- Review: about 15 minutes, up to 48 hours for complex cases; resubmissions get a result in 15 to 20 minutes.
- Up to three accounts per person: your driving licence, passport and ID card can each verify one account, and sub-accounts can't do KYC.
- Identity can be transferred: 24 hours after completing KYC, you can move your verification to another, unverified account; referral codes and assets don't move with it.
The three levels: what you submit and what you can withdraw
| Item | Unverified | Standard | Advanced / Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| What you submit | Nothing | Identity assessment, proof of identity (POI) | Advanced: plus proof of address (POA); Pro: plus enhanced due diligence (EDD) |
| Crypto deposits | No | Yes | Yes |
| Crypto withdrawals (non-VIP) | ≤ 20K USDT a day, ≤ 100K USDT a month | ≤ 1M USDT a day, no monthly limit | ≤ 2M USDT a day, no monthly limit |
| Spot, derivatives, copy trading, trading bots | No | Yes | Yes |
| Earn (Easy Earn flexible etc.) | No | Yes | Yes |
| Bybit Card | No | No | Yes |
Sources: Benefits of Different Verification (KYC) Levels (updated 2026-10-06) and FAQ: Individual KYC (updated 2026-08-20), checked 2026-10-17. Business verification (KYB) allows 4M USDT a day under its own rules.
VIPs get higher withdrawal limits: the FAQ lists 8M USDT a day for VIP 1, 16M for VIP 4, 24M for VIP 5, 26M for Supreme VIP and up to 60M USDT for PRO 6. Bybit adds that VIP accounts still default to 1M for Standard and 2M for Advanced, and you raise the limit manually under Account & Security. Daily limits reset at midnight UTC, and every token is counted at its USDT equivalent.
When the table says withdrawals are "not affected" for unverified users, it means assets already in the account can still be taken out, not that you can keep trading. To place orders on Bybit, finish Standard first.
How to complete Standard (website)
- Click the profile icon on the right of the navigation bar and choose Account.
- In Account Info, click Verify Now in the Identity Verification column to open the verification page.
- Select your current country of residence. Bybit warns you to choose correctly; changing it after confirmation needs extra verification.
- Under Proof of Identity, click Verify, choose the issuing country and document type, and photograph your document.
- Complete the face scan with your laptop camera, or scan the QR code to do it on your phone.
- Normally the identity assessment completes automatically after the document step; some users have to fill in an identity assessment questionnaire.
Source: How to Complete Individual Identity Verification (updated 2026-07-06). If you can't reach the face scan after several tries, the document may not meet the requirements or you may have submitted too often; Bybit suggests trying again after 30 minutes. Anyone who fails the identity assessment can't complete Standard, and so can't use products that need it.
Advanced and Pro
- Advanced: available only after Standard; upload proof of address dated within the last three months, such as a utility bill, bank statement or government-issued residential proof.
- Pro: click Verify on the verification page to complete the enhanced due diligence questionnaire and provide proof of income. Bybit says that in rare cases you may still be asked for documents when withdrawing or trading fiat even after EDD.
Documents and proof of address: what's accepted and what isn't
| Type | Accepted | Not accepted |
|---|---|---|
| Proof of identity (POI) | Passport, identity card, residence permit or driving licence issued by your country of origin, showing photo, name, date of birth, document number and issue date | Domestic passport, student, working or travel visa; e-copies and scans |
| Proof of address (POA) | Utility bills, official bank statements, government-issued residential proof, internet/cable TV/house phone bills, tax returns, tenancy agreements over 6 months, bank reference letters, and ID documents showing your full address | Domestic passport, mobile phone statements, insurance documents, medical bills, bank transaction slips, handwritten receipts, border passes |
Apart from an ID document itself, proof of address must be dated within the last three months (FAQ: Individual KYC). Bybit's rejection-reasons article treats tenancy agreements and ID documents as proof of address differently from the FAQ, so follow what the verification page says when you submit.
Common reasons for rejection
| Reason | Typical case | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Invalid ID | Name or date of birth unreadable; no clear face photo on the document; passport not signed | Retake so name, date of birth and validity date are readable; passports must be signed |
| Unacceptable photo | Blurred, cropped or masked; screenshots, copies, black and white | Show all four corners and upload the original in colour |
| Expired document or unsupported language | Document expired; Arabic, Sinhala, Burmese and similar | Use a valid document, or one in Latin characters or an international passport |
| Face mismatch | Face doesn't match the ID photo, or more than one person in frame | Use good light, keep still, and turn your head slowly as instructed |
| ID already used on a verified account | Another verified account uses the same document | Use an ID you haven't used yet, keep the account that was verified first, or use identity transfer |
| Too many submissions | Rejected more than five times within 24 hours | Wait another 24 hours |
| Restricted country or under 18 | Nationality in a restricted country, or underage | You can't use Bybit; appeal through a support ticket if needed |

If no email arrives and it isn't in spam, Bybit says your profile may have hit a restricted region, age or risk condition, and you should contact support.
Changing your details: self-service updates and cooldowns
- Update a document or address: on the verification page click Update Info, choose Proof of Identity or Proof of Address, pick a reason, complete verification and resubmit; it takes about 15 minutes. You can only update proof of address after completing Advanced.
- Cooldown: after an update you must wait 15 days for proof of identity and 180 days for proof of address before submitting again (self-update guide).
- Name shown wrongly: for character recognition errors, missing or extra characters or a wrong name order, use Update name; it usually takes about 5 minutes and up to one working day, and you can use it again 30 days after the last successful change.
- Same name across levels: Standard and Advanced must use the same name.
Identity transfer: if you already did KYC under another code
Your driving licence, passport and ID card can each verify one Bybit account, so you can verify a new account with an ID you haven't used yet. Bybit also offers "Identity Transfer" to move a verified identity to another account. The conditions in How to Transfer Your Identity to Another Account (updated 2026-04-27):
- Transfer opens 24 hours after you complete KYC, and the receiving account must be unverified.
- For 24 hours afterwards, both accounts are blocked from withdrawals and fiat products; assets left in the old account can still be withdrawn on-chain after that.
- Accounts with fiat assets or open P2P orders or ads can't transfer, and a P2P order closed within the last 5 days means waiting 5 days. Manage open positions first, and remove bank cards, tax IDs or a Bybit Card beforehand.
- Only the verified identity moves; the registered referral code, affiliate code, assets, email and phone number stay behind.
- Individual verification only; business-verified accounts can't use it.
The steps: verification page → Verify Now → Identity Transfer → face scan or security code → accept the terms → enter the target account's email or phone → enter the code. When it's done, the old account returns to unverified.
What it's worth: say you pay 1,000 USDT a month in fees and your old account sits under a common 20% code, returning 200 USDT a month. Register a new account with our code FEEOTTER (don't verify it), transfer your identity to it, and the new account is counted under FEEOTTER, returning 400 USDT a month, about 2,400 USDT more a year. Before transferring, deal with positions, P2P and cards on the old account, and allow for the 24 hours without withdrawals on both. Accounts within 14 days of registration and with no referrer yet can also add our code directly; see adding a Bybit referral code. For the full rebind options, see Bybit rebind guide.
Service regions: nationality, not just residence
Bybit's Service Restricted Countries page (updated 2026-10-16) lists excluded jurisdictions including the United States, the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada, North Korea, Cuba, Iran, Uzbekistan, Crimea (including Sevastopol), the non-government-controlled areas of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, Sudan, Syria and, for Bybit Virtual Asset Platform Operator LLC only, Dubai, and reserves the right to add more. Bybit also doesn't serve parties on US, EU or UK sanctions lists, or persons in Seychelles.
The individual KYC FAQ is explicit: country restrictions are based on the trader's nationality, not their current place of residence. With a passport from a restricted country, KYC may be rejected even if you live elsewhere. For licence status by country, see exchange licences compared.
Account security and risks
Submit KYC only on the verification page of Bybit's official website or app, and never send ID photos or selfies to anyone claiming to be support or offering to "handle verification". Verify only with your own documents; borrowing or buying someone else's verified account breaks the terms, and the account can be terminated and its positions liquidated. Exchange assets carry platform risk, so consider moving what you aren't trading to your own wallet.
The FAQ says personal information is encrypted and used only to verify your identity, not shared or used for marketing. For Bybit's reserve ratios and the 2025 cold wallet incident, see Bybit proof of reserves; for withdrawal security settings, Bybit deposits and withdrawals.
KYC and your rebate
Your KYC level doesn't change the rebate rate, and binding to Fee Otter only needs your UID, not an API key or password. Register on Bybit with our code FEEOTTER and the fee rebate is 40% (all of it Fee Otter's extra rebate), spot and futures alike. Bybit has no automatic exchange rebate layer; Fee Otter settles the 40% daily and pays it out on request as USDT on BEP20, minimum 1 USDT per request, with the 0.015 USDT network fee paid by you. The rebate covers trading fees only, not funding or liquidations. For rates and examples, see Bybit fee rebate guide; for the code, Bybit referral code; for KYC requirements side by side, exchange KYC compared.
