BTCC publishes one report a month, dated the 15th. The earliest report in the official data is 2025-04-15, which makes 19 reports so far, and every coin has been above 100% in every one of them. Logged-in users can check that their own balance is included using a Merkle tree leaf hash (checked 2026-10-19).
Proof of reserves (PoR) answers one question: does the exchange hold enough coins in its wallets to cover what it owes users? This guide uses BTCC's official PoR page and the public data behind it to lay out the latest report and all 19 reports to date, how you can verify for yourself, what BTCC publishes and what it leaves out, and what BTCC says about its Risk Reserve Fund and Trust Center. For PoR across exchanges, see our exchange proof of reserves comparison.

Reserve ratio = platform reserves ÷ all user assets, and BTCC's page says "a reserve ratio ≥100% indicates sufficient platform funds". Source: BTCC proof of reserves page (report time 2026-10-15 UTC+0), checked 2026-10-19; the Merkle root hash published for this report is 182f650c44a74f6d.
BTC at 147% means that at the snapshot, for every 100 BTC users held on BTCC, BTCC's wallets held 147 BTC. BTCC does not publish the actual amounts of user assets or wallet assets, so you can see the ratio but not the size.
BTCC's press releases also quote a "total reserve ratio", for example 129% for July in the release of 30 July 2026 (GlobeNewswire). The PoR page itself does not show a total ratio or explain how it is weighted.

Source: the official public data used by BTCC's PoR page, queried report by report for the 15th of each month, checked 2026-10-19; no reports were found before 2025-04-15 or on other dates.
Two things stand out. First, across 19 reports and 6 coins, the 114 figures range from 110% to 170%, and none falls below 100%. Second, the same coin moves a lot month to month: BTC went from 110% in February 2026 to 149% in March, and USDT from 165% in September 2026 to 115% in October. BTCC gives no explanation for the changes. A single report is only a snapshot; staying above 100% over many reports says more about an exchange's habits.
What BTCC publishes and what it does not
| Item | BTCC PoR page |
|---|---|
| Reserve ratio per coin | Yes, six coins |
| Total user assets (liabilities) | Not published |
| Wallet asset amounts | Not published |
| Wallet addresses | Not published |
| Merkle root hash | Yes, one per report, shown as 16 characters |
| Personal leaf hash and verification tool | Yes, after login |
| Auditor or attestation firm | No firm named |
| Assets beyond the six coins | Not listed |
What you can verify is whether your own balance is counted in user assets; with no wallet addresses or amounts, the wallet side cannot be checked on-chain from outside. BTCC's page describes PoR as an "audit procedure" using cryptographic proof, public wallet ownership checks and repeated audits, but the page lists no wallet addresses and names no audit firm. It also says each account in the Merkle tree is hashed with SHA256; a full SHA-256 output is 64 hexadecimal characters, while the published root hash is 16 characters, and BTCC does not explain why.
How to verify for yourself
- Log in to BTCC and open Proof of Reserves from the link at the bottom of the homepage.
- Open View My Report; BTCC issues reports periodically based on asset snapshots.
- Click Details in the report and copy the Merkle tree leaf hash.
- Back on the PoR page, paste the leaf hash into the box and verify; a successful check shows the report's root hash.
- The verification page lists the account assets recorded for you at that snapshot, plus the platform's reserve ratio.

The Risk Reserve Fund is a separate thing
BTCC also runs a Risk Reserve Fund, which the help center puts at 25.5 million as of July 2026; the Trust Center says $25.5M+ (About BTCC Risk Reserve Fund). It covers negative balances of bankrupt accounts in extreme markets (BTCC says 100% of them) and pays reasonable compensation when system failures hit traders. BTCC funds it: 1 million USDT at the start, then 5% of platform fee income. BTCC reserves the right to change these terms at any time. This is BTCC's own protection fund, which is different from PoR, the check on whether user assets are fully held.
Other Trust Center claims
BTCC's Trust Center says assets sit in multi-signature cold storage with every transaction approved by several independent parties; customer deposits are held 1:1 and not lent, staked, traded or used externally; CertiK runs regular penetration tests; and Chainalysis monitors deposits and withdrawals (BTCC Trust Center). It also says BTCC was founded in 2011 and has had "zero" security breaches in 15 years, which is the company's own statement. BTCC also offers Earn products, and its pages do not explain how Earn funds are treated in PoR.
What PoR proves and what it does not
What it shows
- According to BTCC's published ratios, platform reserves for the six coins exceeded user assets at the snapshot.
- Your own balance was counted in that report's user assets (once you verify your leaf hash).
What it does not show
- That the wallet assets exist on-chain: with no public addresses, outsiders cannot check.
- Anything after the snapshot: balances change daily, and PoR is a picture of one moment.
- Assets beyond the six coins, and the exchange's overall finances and other liabilities.
What you can do at account level
- Keep long-term holdings in your own wallet and leave only working funds on the exchange.
- Turn on Google Authenticator and withdrawal verification; withdrawal rules and the 24-hour locks are in BTCC deposits and withdrawals.
PoR and regulation
PoR is a transparency tool an exchange publishes for users to check; it is not a licence or regulatory oversight. BTCC's contracting company, BTCC Limited, is incorporated in Hong Kong but is not on the Hong Kong SFC's list of licensed virtual asset trading platforms. BTCC's company and regulatory background is in our BTCC review, and licensing by country in exchange licences compared.
